In order to end 2023 on a high note, Wild Rice is happy to announce that Alfian Sa'at's hilarious musical comedy "SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS" will be this year's holiday extravaganza. This show will charm people of all ages because it combines sweet moments with a Singaporean twist on a classic fairy tale.
The skilled Chua Enlai plays the Queen, Nadya Zaheer plays Snow White, and Siti Khalijah Zainal plays the Magic Mirror in the new cast, which is directed by the best Hossan Leong. Alfian's first attempt at a Wild Rice play was this hilarious musical, which debuted in 2008. He made it so that both kids and adults could enjoy it.
Alfian says, "I'm excited to see how kids react to the familiar story of Snow White now that it has new layers and deals with topics like the pursuit of perfection and how that affects one's self-image and self-esteem."
The story takes place in the Eternal Kingdom, where the Queen's desire for perfection leads to a strange programme called "Enhancement" for her people. When the Queen's jealousy turns Snow White into a target, she goes on a trip to the Outer Limits, where she meets the Seven Dwarfs, who were sent away because they didn't meet the Queen's standards.
After 15 years, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" comes back to the Wild Rice stage with a new group of actors. The Queen is played by Chua Enlai, and Snow White is played by Nadya Zaheer. Elaine Chan's catchy original music sets the mood for a rollicking good time. The cleverly satirical writing and lively choreography by Hafeez Hassan make this a show that people of all ages can enjoy.
Vester Ng as Prince Charming and Siti Khalijah Zainal as the Magic Mirror will join the Queen and Snow White on stage. The Seven Dwarfs, played by Marcus Chiau, Alecia Kim Chua, Benjamin Koh, Medli Dorothea Loo, Andrew Lua, Suhaili Safari, and Tan Rui Shan, are going to rap and break dance their way to the top of the show. Behind the scenes, where Wong Chee Wai is the Set Designer, James Tan is the Lighting Designer, Shah Tahir is the Sound Designer, Tube Gallery is the Costume Designer, Ashley Lim is the Hair Designer, and Bobbie Ng is the Make-Up Designer, there is just as much talent.
Mark your calendars for this enchanting show, which starts at The Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre at Wild Rice on November 16, 2023. The show will run from Tuesday to Sunday, with previews on November 16 and 17 at 7:30 pm and November 18 at 2:30 pm.
