Latte, who came from an unethical breeder, arrived at her new home timid, dirty, and suffering from bad tear stains and luxating patella. As first-time dog parents, Sarah and Lionel were overwhelmed and turned to Google for help. However, they quickly realized that much of the information available was not tailored to pet owners in their region. This gap in accessible, relatable information for pet parents in Singapore inspired them to start their blog, Vanillapup.com, in 2013.
Since its inception, Vanillapup.com has grown into a trusted resource for pet parents not only in Singapore but also around the world. The blog shares personal experiences, tips, and advice on raising pets, resonating with a global audience seeking relatable and reliable content from a pet parent's perspective. The questions from readers about pet care, such as the best pet shampoos, safe treats, and necessary supplements, led Sarah and Lionel to expand their platform into an online pet shop.
Vanillapup’s online store offers a curated selection of pet products designed to promote a healthy and happy life for pets. Every product is carefully chosen based on strict criteria to ensure they meet the highest standards of quality and safety. Sarah and Lionel believe that pets deserve products made from quality materials and ingredients, free from harmful additives. In June 2024, after 10 years in the online pet business, Vanillapup opened its first retail store in Cluny Court, right next to Botanic Gardens. The brick-and-mortar store showcases popular international brands like Zee.Dog and Ruffwear and local brands like ohpopdog, TAKI Pets, and thingstocome. The store welcomes pets, but they have to be carried or in a stroller at the common areas of the mall.
Vanillapup.com continues to be a beacon for pet parents seeking guidance and high-quality products. Sarah and Lionel’s journey from novice dog owners to trusted voices in the pet care community exemplifies their commitment to improving the lives of pets and their owners.
