The British Theatre Playhouse is excited to announce their latest musical to be performed in Singapore for the first time in three years, with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. For one night only on 20 October 2022, be physically transported into the musical world of BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY at Grand Ballroom, One Farrer Hotel, Singapore.
You simply can’t take your eyes off the internationally acclaimed performance of The Eastcoast Boys, as they perform iconic hits that propelled Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons into stardom in the 60s and 70s as they sold an incredible 100 million records worldwide.
The musical promises a pitch-perfect performance by four musical performers taking on the persona of The Four Seasons, singing the iconic sounds of New Jersey’s finest and telling the story. Drawing from a repertoire of classic hits that sold an incredible 100 million records worldwide, the audience can look forward to enjoying nostalgic hits such as Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Rag Doll, My Eyes Adore You, Oh, What A Night, Big Girls Don’t Cry and many more to be featured in the musical.
These prominent 60s and 70s songs made a recent comeback with the award-winning musical, Jersey Boys, in London West End and Broadway, which was later adapted into a film of the same name in 2014 directed by Clint Eastwood. Prolific for its presence in pop culture, the song Big Girls Don’t Cry was also featured in the opening scene of the 1987 movie Dirty Dancing, and appeared in the films The Main Event (1979) and Mermaids (1990).
Be blown away by a synchronised performance that will bring the audience a wonderful time singing, humming, and dancing along – as they always do with the cast that has toured nationally and internationally. Most recently, performances of the musical in the United Kingdom have garnered raving reviews from audiences and the local press. Now, the British Theatre Playhouse is excited to bring the same fun-filled experience to the audiences here in Singapore.
The performance will feature leading stars Damion Scarcella, who has appeared in many British and Australian productions of leading musicals and is also a respected vocal coach, Lorne Taylor – a musical theatre performer originally from the Rhondda Valleys in South Wales, Stuart Innes who has been a member of the cast of BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY since its inception in 2008, and Tristan Ward who had been trained at the London School of Musical Theatre (LSMT).
BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY - British Theatre Playhouse ‘Art for Charity’ Gala Event Under the patronage of the British High Commissioner, British Theatre Playhouse will also be hosting their established ‘Art for Charity’ Gala event the next day, 21 October 2022. This meaningful gala will be opened with a welcome Queen’s Platinum Jubilee cocktail reception, followed by a sit-down dinner and the show, BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY.
The event is organised exclusively to raise funds for financially disadvantaged children and youth from six to 18 years old with The Rice Company Limited. Funds raised will be donated to the #Engage Initiative Fund to help develop arts and culture programmes that engender creativity, inspiration and values and an annual online arts festival platform showcasing children and youth's creativity and voice.
