First time here and sadly very disappointed, I was so excited to celebrate with my Hubby here but we were seated outside near the pool and 2 other couples and when I say near it was uncomfortable I could hear them breathing they were so close and didn’t feel we could talk as when we did the couples besides us literally could hear every word - very unromantic , plus we had hotel guests walking around very scruffy taking selfies and photos - I was told I would be sitting outside but not being here before didn’t know what to expect I would never of booked if I’d of known, I just felt like we were having a pool snack! Even when I asked for the washroom I was directed to outside toilets / pool shower and changing rooms - We didn’t once get chance to go actually in to see the restaurant at all!
Service was attentive but we felt so rushed! Topping up the wine before we had even had a sip!
Food and being a real foodie and also having high expectations I was truly gutted that this was properly the most boring meal I’ve had in Singapore and we eat out a lot - impressive menu but the food didn’t deliver.
Starters
“Raw white asparagus with burrata mousse and truffle” up there with one of the worst entrees I’ve ever had - couldn’t taste anything but the Alfalfa sprouts, and no burrata mouse just a burrata which that alone id of been happy with, but no couldn’t taste it due to the sprouts and no taste of truffle I think I’ve had more black pepper on my plate than truffle. I Left a lot of this entree.
Husband had the “cold cuts of meat and pickles” ! It’s starts pickles as such he got just 3 tiniest mini gherkins shoved on the plate, he did say the meat was ok but he’d had much better.
Mains
I had “ sea bream with olives tomato and broccoli “
Where to start! It’s was salt baked fab! Or so I thought! Being a whole fish it came on an impressive board but sadly I didn’t get to see it before it was whipped away as the waiter couldn’t get near to me or our table as no room due to being so cramped with the tables next to us. It Came back already filleted looking like a sorry plate of food with 3 tiny broccoli florets which by this time like the fish were freezing, left most of this as too cold to eat and no flavour at all, no tomato or olives I did have a green line of something decorating the plate but it literally tasted of nothing and a sprig of English parsley for garnish! So unimpressed.
Husband had “short horn beef tenderloin” came with asparagus and potatoes - best part of the meal was the asparagus crunchy, juicy and sweet - the beef was just a slab of meat no finesse on a board, he mentioned he’d had better much better before, he said it lacked flavour and very chewy in parts, potato was a little raw and he got what looked like one potato cut up very small skin on and again no flavour, we like to share our food eating experiences but there wasn’t enough food for one let alone a share to taste.
We weren’t offered any accompaniments and no one checked if everything was to our liking, not even when the plates were taken away with half a plate of food left on them! We had to ask about the dishes and what they come with, as we were also ordering lots of sides we did order side of spinach - there wasn’t even enough for a mouth full so I let my husband have this.
We both had decided on the cheese board for dessert when we noticed at the beginning - but didn’t want to waste anymore money after 2 very poor courses so we finished our wine and left - won’t be back again and would never recommend or bring out of town guests here I’m afraid - back to our usual if we want tasty food and great service
