Sideways is an eclectic, woodfired restaurant nestled in a 100-year old shophouse along Jalan Besar.

With a focus on bread and fresh flavours, the small and big plates are sure to please both meat-lovers and vegetarians.

Popular for date nights as well as brunch with friends, Sideways has quickly gained popularity as one of the few woodfired restaurants of Singapore who use a firebrick oven to bake bread and roast most of their menu.

Love this place! The sourdough bread really is fantastic. Worth the carbs. Dip it in the eggplant dip - mmm. I don’t even like eggplant, but this was fabulous. We also had the barramundi and the lamb, both very well cooked and presented. I also love the use of the old shophouse... they’ve kept some of the old charm, while still maintaining a new, modern, and elegant vibe.

I loved the chunky bread and dips. A great starter to the night. Super spot for a private party as it's rustic in set up and away from the madding crowd. Prices very reasonable and service was excellent. I will definitely be going back there again!

wow wow wow I loved my visit last night. I sat at the bar overlooking the goings on in the kitchen bust beyond the bar serving area. The wood fired oven is the jewel and is visible from the small and intimate restaurant space. You will only have 20 to 25 guests at any one time here. It really is a refreshing environment. I had the stuffed peppers for an entree followed by a delicious Rib Eye at $16 cooked to perfection and you got a hit of the smokeyness. definitely this place will go off the charts.... get in now before it becomes over run with fans

Sideways is certainly unique and just a fantastic place to visit on more then one occasion. The food and drink is amazing. The Mediterranean tapas meals are to die for, highly recommended.

Nice ambience for a date night. I had a good Spritz Aperol, which it's something I'm really missing of my home town!
The bread was for sure the other highlight of the dinner: they have a wood-fire oven and the quality of the bread was really really high! Totally recommended! Alessia Anniballo reviewed Sideways – 5 star on Facebook
