Gateway Theatre is a new multi-theatre venue located in the heart of Bukit Merah Central.
It aims to be a creative arts space that promotes Made-In-Singapore works and talents of all cultures, while developing an appreciation of the arts within the heartlands of Bukit Merah and in Singapore.
Its two main venues are the 930-seat Main Theatre and the 200-seat modular Black Box theatre.
Within the building are two studio spaces for multi-purpose use, an outdoor roof garden and small balcony gardens for open-air performances.

9/10 stars for The Nutcracker. As amazing as it was, there was no interval break per se but overall I think it was an amazing ensemble from start to finish. The multi-sensory experience was overwhelming and blended with the story and antics well. The energy level was always high, and kept audience at the edge of our seats (not just because I sat at the balcony). Though it maintained that it was a music and dance event, the updated version with the magical illusions further reinforced its effect, giving a positive vibe. I think that there's indeed a lot that can be done with this performance space and involve all members of the audience to make it a more intimate experience.
I think it's strategic to have this theatre and performance in the heartlands and bring back the vibrancy of yesteryear to Bukit Merah.
