Shake That Thing follows earlier releases Lift Your Eyes and In A Hotel Lobby and is an irresistible, fun groove, heightened by the playful interplay between lead singers Vannessa Barker, Surath Godfrey and a vocal trio.
The trio features two special guests, recording artist Lincoln Lim and jam-master Jason Siri together with The Souls’ own Daniel Feiler.
According to Surath Shake That Thing captures the essence of the band’s live show. “Our performances have a reputation for getting the audience on the dancefloor and strutting their stuff,” said Surath. “Shake That Thing captures that cheerful vibe.”
“We hope that the song will serve as a little reminder of great nights out when we get a little loose and leave our cares behind.”
For Vannessa Shake That Thing carries additional significance as it is the band’s first release where the song writing was a collaboration between several members of the band. The music was composed by The Soul’s founder Daniel Feiler and saxophonist Edmund Wuu, while Daniel and Vannessa wrote the lyrics.
“The Souls have so much fun when we are together, whether its performing, practising, in the studio or just hanging out,” said Vannessa. “I hope that people connect to the fun in this song and it triggers memories of the good times music can trigger, while building anticipation for their speedy return.”
