Well ooo la la! This is the newest branch in Claymore Road, Orchard which has now established a solid following of loyal diners. Located right in the heart of the Orchard action, So France presents a contemporary and vibrant bistro space with chic red, white and blue design touches.

Easily transporting guests to the feel of a modern Parisian bistro, there is also a cosy outdoor terrace offering diners a relaxed alfresco eating experience. Our delightful French wait staff are attentive and knowledgeable highlighting recommended dishes to try and of course perfect champagnes and wines to match.

So France

We commence with a stunning Tartare de Saumon ($25++) – this dish of fresh salmon, scallops, avocado, cucumber, quinoa and Avruga caviar has us realising this is no ordinary French bistro. The food is refined, presented beautifully and of sufficient high quality that it could easily be served in any high-end French restaurant (but without the exorbitant price tag).

The Escargots en Persillade ($24++), garlic butter snails, are an immediate hit with the French husband whose only complaint is he wished he’d ordered twelve instead of six.

So France

Our generous mains arrive and it is tough to select our favourite. I would have to go with the Canard à l’Orange ($36++) – duck with blood orange purée, broccolini, orange segment and orange gastrique sauce, a modern and elevated take on this classic French dish.

French hubby devours the Ravioles & Foie Gras ($36++) – a rich and flavourful dish of Emmental and Comté ravioli with pan seared foie gras and mushroom sauce.

So France

With generous portions and delectable flavours, our meal leaves us more than satisfied, although we don’t need any convincing to finish with some divine desserts.

Opting for a classic Crème Brulee ($12++) and Poire Belle-Hélène ($14++) – poached pear with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce we are truly in dessert heaven.

So France

So France’s latest outlet is superbly executed providing everything one would hope for in this established French concept – delicious food, a fabulous chic ambience, attentive service and gourmet goodies to go. A perfect locale in the heart of Orchard for meals with friends, family, colleagues or even a romantic date night.
