Hone Bakes, Baker X's latest addition, will offer a delectable variety of flavours from September 18 to October 13, 2024. Hone Bakes was founded by Chew Yi En and her mother, and it embodies a journey of passion and dedication. Yi En left her full-time work to follow her long-held passion of being a baker, and she invited her mother to join her. They hope to create a café someday, but for the time being, they focus on making light, airy chiffon cakes, rich gateau cakes, and artisanal sourdough snacks.
Hone Bakes' stay at Baker X will include a variety of delectable treats. Their flagship product, the Matcha Black Sesame Gateau Cake, costs $12 and has a deep flavour profile. This cake has a matcha and black sesame base and is layered with chewy black sesame mochi, creamy matcha ganache, a thick black sesame cream, and crunchy matcha crumbles on top. Another must-try is the loaded Pandan Gula Melaka Chiffon Cake, which costs $6.50 and has a silky chiffon base loaded with smooth taro paste, fluffy cream, and gula melaka coconut shreds for a sweet, tropical touch.
Hone Bakes' sourdough bagels, which start at $3.80, will leave bagel aficionados wanting more. These bagels have a crispy outside and a chewy, soft interior. Notable savoury options include the Pumpkin Sourdough Bagel with Chicken Floss ($5.20) and the substantial Chicken Curry Sourdough Bagel ($5.50), which give a fresh twist on typical bagel flavours.
Hone Bakes' new Tiramisu Gateau Cake, priced at $13, is exclusively available at Baker X. This exquisite dessert is made with a chocolate gateau and hazelnut feuilletine foundation, then covered with coffee ganache, coffee-soaked lady fingers, and creamy mascarpone. A coating of rich cocoa powder adds the finishing touch, achieving the ideal flavour balance. Those with a sweet craving can enjoy the Salted Matcha Dark Chocolate Cookie ($5), which is a delectable combination of earthy matcha, rich dark chocolate, and a sprinkle of sea salt.
