Italian Roast at Dopo Teatro, is a good place for small groups and families, especially over the weekend with the introduction of their Weekend Buffets of Succulent Roasts. Dopo Teatro launched a new Italian Weekend Roast Buffet this month.
We were curious to try out this mid-afternoon Italian roast. It will take you to local Italy with this traditional roast, we were able to try out their wide selection of meats, roasts, sides and desserts. You can enjoy the roast on Saturdays and Sundays from 12pm to 3pm. A good afternoon spot to share with family, friends and kids.
The Dopo Teatro restaurant is located at a landmark location, Esplanade Mall. If you go to the Esplanade area, Dopo Teatro is a good stop to make. They have a large terrace with string lights and plenty of tables. We enjoyed our Italian roast outside on the terrace and the area is inviting, clean and quite vibrabt on the wekend. On a hot Singaporean sunny day the wind blows a lovely breeze so it is pleasant to sit outside to enjoy your grazing season.
In my opinion the Italian roast is best described as comfort food, being german, it brings me back to Europe and the food is juicy, savoury and tender. The portions at Dopo Teatro are also pretty big and satisfactory. We started with Italian olive and tomato bread and olive oil, the bread is very tasty and freshly made. After this we enjoyed the insalata caprese and sweet potato fries. The choices in the mains are large, from chicken and mushroom lasagne, brown butter sous vide halibut fillet to duck fat roasted potatoes.
I must say the meat portions in the roast (actually all portions) are very big and generous. And definitely worth the trip over. The meat selection, which are the Dopo signature porchetta slab, Pollo arrosto matone style and Pepe rosa crusted ribeye roast tagliata was lovely and juicy (beef, pork and chicken options). After this we enjoyed the amazing and exquisite desserts, their lovely chocolate fondant with duice the leche and cannelloni with caramel sauce which was not on the menu but absolutely a winner (cannelloni is one of my favourites) and it was very tasty.
It is hard to compare this weekend roast to the weekend buffets or weekend roasts at the large hotels, so I am not trying to do that, it is a different experience. I think the charm of Dopo Teatro is the location an cosy setting.
Go for traditional comfort food and try the traditional Italian Sunday roast. After enjoying all this food it is great to go for a stroll around the bay area. In my opinion Dopo Teatro is a modest place with easy, traditional good food. Best to share with your family and friends. It is especially a great location (and good food) for families with kids.
