If you are up for a no-fuss steak and frites restaurant where Joo Chiat locals flock to regularly, then Braseiro is the place. Fully booked daily, you’d have to make reservations at this cute neighbourhood enclave.
Serving a very simple menu that is easy for patrons to remember, Braseiro offers 3 appetizers, 3 mains and 3 desserts. Very apt as it’s address is exactly 333 Joo Chiat Road.
These little nuggets to jog the memory are important when creating a brand. It is top of my mind now, without even trying. Making it even simpler to order, all main meals are $19.90 with free flow salad and chips.
So whether it is a 200g flame-grilled rib-eye steak, 200g beef skewer or roast chicken it’s the same deal. I love limited menus – specializing means quality and an easy-to-order process minimizing the need for too many decisions.
I love Braseiro as the ambience reminds me of cosy and familiar French cafes that are aplenty off the sidewalks of Paris. As regulars flock to their favourite restaurants, waiters know exactly what their patrons have come for.
It is no different here. I heard the table beside me utter “the usual” and that was it. Keeping it simple that’s what I liked.
Sticking to the traditional red wine and meat combo, a bottle of Montes Chilean Merlot did the trick! Of course there are loads of French wines on the list too from Bordeaux, Cotes-du-Rhone, Bourgogne and more.
At Braseiro, other add-ons like garlic bread are accompanied by the much sought-after Camembert fondue. Cheese lovers the latter was delicious! I love the soft runny texture of fondue. It is one of the most gratifying sensations that a foodie could experience.
More top ups are available for sauces, the raclette de Savoie being a good one to try if you like to keep it French. Nacho cheese and parmesan & truffle oil are other flavours that might appeal to different palettes.
Desserts are just as wholesome and heartwarming at Braseiro. Choco-banana – cooked banana with chocolate, cookie crumbs and vanilla ice cream at $11.90 are probably to share unless you are a dessert freak and wish to have one all to yourself.
A lighter dessert which was more my choice especially after a steak was the café gourmand. Espresso served with 3 sweet petit-fours, I favoured the dainty variety that appeared before me.
For free flowers who love the unlimited deals a $70/pax offer might tempt you. Paired with an appetizer, main and dessert plus free-flow beer or wine this is certainly worth every dollar.
Happy hours are on daily, from 6 to 8pm with a 2 for $20 pint of draft beer deal. House pour red and white wines are also well priced at $18 for 2 glasses. A super spot to meet people in the hood and make connections. Isn’t this what it’s about?
Choose your flame-grilled meat and get unlimited supply of handmade French-fries and fresh salad at Braseiro on Joo Chiat Rd, from only $19.90 for 200 grams!
Great place to check out in Singapore for a simple yet pleasant grill experience at a very reasonable price for Singapore. There's an exquisite French touch in the decoration and we highly recommend the Camembert fondue to enhance the froggy experience.
