Bacha Coffee announces the grand opening of its latest 300 square metre destination in Singapore, Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue, at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. The legendary brand will whisk you away on a journey of sensations through their first location to incorporate a chic coffee room, takeaway experience and boutique all within the same space. Designed to cater to coffee connoisseurs and everyday drinkers alike, it presents an extraordinary opportunity to relish the freshest cup of coffee brewed from 100% Arabica beans either in store, to go, or at home.

Bacha Coffee is the product of a rich legacy, a brand that has ripened over storied brews since 1910. The latest destination, Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue, will ignite the imagination of all guests in the same way that coffee transports us to faraway destinations. They've combined both old and new into one experience, paying homage to the past and inventing the future, with 100% Arabica coffee playing centre stage in this theatre of life,” says Taha Bouqdib, President & CEO of V3 Gourmet. “All the senses are at play here, and the coffee is the star.”

Bacha Coffee

The original Bacha Coffee was founded in 1910 within the magnificent Dar el Bacha palace in Marrakech. This era recognized coffee rooms as vibrant social havens, where communities gathered to unwind and engage in lively discussions on the prevailing matters of their time. Paying homage to this vibrant culture from which the brand derives, the new Marina Bay Sands location represents a chic and contemporary vision of social coffee appreciation.

The coffee room is adorned with details from its legacy location in Marrakech, from the inlaid black-and-white chequered tiles on the floors to intricate white-and-gold latticework covering the antique mirrored walls. Fabulously colourful centuried caftans, a tribute to the birthplace of Bacha Coffee, bring a touch of Arabic sophistication to mind, while the future beckons in water drop inspired lights falling in perfect symmetry across the ceiling.

Takeaway Coffee Set

Guests on the go may indulge in the unique Bacha Coffee takeaway experience, where they can choose from over 200 coffees prepared to order either hot or iced, alongside an assortment of 10 varieties of multi-coloured signature sweet and savoury croissants in addition to other house-made pastries. Allow your taste buds to run away with you, and order the Fashion Avenue exclusive Blueberry & Lavender Croissant ($3.50/piece), available until September, or long-time favourites such as Kaya or Coffee Chocolate.

Elevate your visit further, by taking away a Bacha Coffee Tiramisu ($18), a creamy coffee-lovers dream inflected with cubes of coffee jelly and rich, Arabica-soaked biscuits packed tightly into a (sustainably reusable) amber glass mason jar stamped with the brand’s insignia.

Beyond the traditional dining and takeaway experiences, Fashion Avenue will house an immersive retail space where any manner of coffee variety – from Single Origin, Fine Blended, Fine Flavoured to CO2 Decaffeinated coffees – can be purchased starting at 100 grams and then expertly ground, if required, by in-house Coffee Masters to a size calibrated to suit any coffee preparation method. As a celebration of the grand opening, Single Origin coffees from two little known, developing coffee nations —Myanmar and Malawi — will be introduced to the already extensive collection of over 200 pure Arabica coffees.

Bacha Coffee - New Coffee Bag Gift Boxes

Four new Single Origin varieties of Coffee Bags will also launch in conjunction with the Fashion Avenue opening, expanding the selection from 21 to 25. Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Decaffeinated ($30) will astonish with its rich notes of chocolate and ripe red berries, while San Cristobal ($52) from Ecuador, Mount Everest ($52) from Nepal and Sigri Jewel ($30) from Papua New Guinea will complete the tour of flavours across 4 continents.

The Bacha Coffee Bag Gift Box collection, composed of carefully chosen varieties, presents 12 individually wrapped, single-serve coffee drip bags guaranteed to produce an exceptional cup of Arabica coffee wherever and whenever the desire takes hold.

A wide array of coffee sets and gourmet items make the perfect gifts for friends and loved ones while brewing accessories and coffee-making accoutrements complete the Bacha Coffee shopping experience.

Bacha Coffee - Food

Finally, to repose from their shopping experience, guests may unwind in the 54-seater coffee room and delight in all-day traditional menu options for every appetite. Early risers can opt for free-range egg dishes, served to their preference. Midday diners may choose from a selection of Gourmet Savoury Croissants ($20++).

The Vegetable ($22++) is exemplary of Moroccan culinary savoir faire. Here, Marrakech spices accent butternut and sweet pumpkin, slow cooked with courgette, aubergine and baby potatoes in a rich sauce accented by raisined couscous.

Afternoon coffee sets see French toast sandwiches presented with sweet treats. The Palais ($40++) offers a tenderloin steak accented with caramelised onions, accompanied by a choice of two gourmet croissants, two slices of coffee cake or one pastry. The sets come with a choice of Single Origin, Fine Blended, Fine Flavoured and naturally CO2 Decaffeinated coffees.

Last but not least, freshly brewed 100% Arabic coffee is served iced in crystal cut glasses or hot from gilded gooseneck coffee pots and accompanied by a generous pot of whipped Chantilly cream speckled with organic vanilla bean.

Coffee lovers, are you ready? Prepare to embark on an extraordinary coffee journey as Bacha Coffee opens its latest destination in Singapore, Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue, located at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Step into this exquisite venue, where a stunning coffee room, a takeaway counter, and a coffee-filled boutique come together in one place. When you step inside the coffee room, you are immediately impressed by the golden glow that comes from the rich colours of the coffee boxes of the Bacha brand. It is like being in Ali Baba’s gold-filled cave, with inlaid black-and-white chequered tiles on the floor and intricate white-and-gold latticework adorning antique mirrored walls. There's more to Bacha Coffee than just aesthetics; it's a brand with a purpose. With a philosophy deeply rooted in sustainable development and an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework, Bacha Coffee ensures that the environment is at the core of their practices, from coffee farming and harvesting to production, processing, and packaging.

Now, to the main attraction - the coffee itself. This place has 200 coffees, and where to start is a mind-boggling challenge. Thankfully, the staff are well versed in advising you based on your personal coffee preferences. I enjoyed sampling four unique and exceptional coffees while visiting Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue at Marina bay Sands Shoppes.

The first coffee was the San Cristóbal, a single-origin coffee from Ecuador. Bacha gives it a two beans out of five rating for strength. This medium dark roast, wet-washed coffee hails from San Cristóbal, where it grows in a tropical climate in volcanic soil. Is this starting to sound like a wine review? The similarities are quite apparent when you start describing the coffee’s flavour profile with words like chocolate and citrus. This fresh coffee taste suits coffee drinkers who prefer a tangy and less robust coffee.

The second coffee, Mount Everest, is a single-origin coffee from Nepal. Again, Bacha has a 2 bean rating for Mount Everest, but this one has a different flavour from the San Cristóbal. The predominantly Caturra coffee bushes absorb the essence of the mountain foothill's soils, resulting in a depth and diversity of flavour unique to this region. This was more suited to my strong-coffee preference and was an enjoyable coffee. Robust without being bitter.

Coffee number 3, the Seville Orange, is an Arabica blend that combines the notes of cracked cocoa and ripe orange zest with a lively, medium roast. This reminded me of the Jaffa orange and chocolate candy I enjoyed as a child. This one is easy to describe – chocolate and orange. I think this would be an excellent after-dinner coffee or one served with sweet desserts.

Finally, I was waiting to try the fourth coffee, the Addis Ababa Decaffeinated coffee.  Something in my head always steers me away from decaf, but my mind was about to be changed in a big way. Decaffeinated doesn't mean compromising on flavour, and the Addis Ababa Decaffeinated coffee, using a high-pressure and CO2 natural extraction method, retains the characteristics of the original coffee. It presents a lively cup of delight without the caffeine. A really great taste, and after the first sip, my bias for decaffeinated coffee was swiftly erased.

While you are at Bacha, could you make sure you complement your coffee with an assortment of Sweet Gourmet Croissants? The sweet croissants are a “must-try” and come in flavours like raspberry, chocolate, almond, blueberry and even kaya. They are all good and served with Chantilly cream and Bacha Coffee honey or caramel of the week. The croissants come beautifully boxed when you buy from the takeaway section - a delightful treat to savour later or share with friends.

The kitchen at Bacha serves up some savoury offerings. I had the Scrambled Eggs with Black Truffle. The eggs are beautifully creamy, delicious and decadent, served with freshly cracked peppercorn and Vienna Dawn coffee beans…and thick toast soldiers. This is a worthy treat.  There is a selection of French toast, and my choice was the French Toast sandwich with smoked salmon, Comte cheese, and sweet gherkin is an absolute winner. If you’ve had corned beef for breakfast, then you’ll love the Fried Eggs with Beef Confit. Sunny side-up fried eggs topped with a beef confit. Hold the bacon, I’ll be back for a repeat serving of this one.

Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands is more than just a coffee shop; it's a proper coffee experience. With its homage to the vibrant coffee culture of Marrakech, dedication to sustainability, and a menu that caters to all tastes, Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue is a coffee lover's paradise. So, whether you're a seasoned coffee connoisseur or just someone who enjoys a good cuppa, make your way to Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue and let your taste buds embark on an unforgettable journey of flavours.
