The English House by Marco Pierre White serves Traditional Fish and Chips offering a choice of fish - Wheeler’s Haddock, Atlantic Cod and Monkfish. Relish the golden batter fried fish with triple cooked chips and sauce tartare.

One of the most reputed English restaurants in Singapore, The English House by the legend, Marco Pierre White has a splendid breakfast option on its menu. Served during weekend brunches, Traditional Full English with Toasted Crumpet comes with grilled sausage, crisp bacon, mushrooms, roasted tomato, and fried free-range egg. You can also order their Classic Eggs Benedict with Berkshire Ham Hock or Eggs Florentine for a lighter brekkie.

If you have a soft corner for well-done English classics, The English House should easily become your go-to restaurant in no time. Each dish reflects renowned chef, Marco Pierre White’s genius, and we absolutely love their The English House Chicken Curry(S$35) served with buttered rice and a Roast Rump of Lamb (S$44) from their Traditional Sunday Roast section served with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cheese-baked cauliflower, pigs in blankets, and traditional gravy. Make sure to save some space for a mouth-watering Baked Apple Crumble to ensure an afternoon of siesta.

Ok. I'm no fine dining expert and this is exactly why I feel quite comfortable as the founder of http://www.expatchoice.asia to write a few works about The English House.

Firstly, I love english fare and I appreciate everything from a fish pie to a full on Roast Chicken/lamb/beef dinner or a scotch egg at that. I love food, full stop. What I also love is ambience when I'm out at a restaurant. The staff here are more than exception. They are family. They make the guests feel special. At home like in your dining room with mum in the kitchen cooking up more than a storm.

When you dine at The English House you will see plenty of memorabilia on the walls and in the ornate, and sometimes antique looking display cabinets. I am told these pieces come from Marco Pierre Whites private collection back in the UK so that's got to be special - just in itself.

You will also notice that every piece of crockery that your meal is served on is authentic English croc.

Start your meal with a good old Mr Walsh's English Pea and ham soup. I love this soup. My mother would make this soup when I was a wee lad and yes, I would lap it up. This soup starter is nothing short of monumental, harking back to the days my dear old mum was alive. I was a little sentimental sipping away on my Sunday afternoon visit.

Main boards has quite the selection from Roast Fillet of Black Angus accompanied with a Yorkshire Pud, Braised Oxtail and onion gravy - quite the classic and a creamed Horseradish or go for the Wheelers Scottish Salmon Fishcake served with a poached egg and Sauce Tartare.

Although it is hard to go past the Braised Ox Cheek a la Bourguignon....

Of course there are puddings and cheeses and all that goes with a good English fare including a classic Apple crumble, a Sherry Trifle Wally Ladd and the Box Tree Eton mess.... just saying

The menu will be changing from month to month so you can return with a new experience to behold. 4 courses will set you back $75 and this included Canapes...

I like the English House, I love the ambience and, I appreciate the service and care that was given on my and Christine's last visit. Highly recommended as an experience....It's not fine dining... it's just good old fashioned family fare served at your "unique" english dining table.... as all tables are of different shapes and sizes...in an exquisite surrounds. xxx

Start your weekend on the right foot and book in for breakfast at The English House. Traditionally a lunch and dinner venue, they have just opened on the 1 September for breakfast.

As I stepped in the door I was ever so comforted to see the regal ambience of this beautiful house. I am not sure about you but I like a quiet surrounding on the weekend as I kick back and unwind from the week.

If you resonate with this then you will find the charm of The English House soothing. Serving breakfast on the weekend from 8.30am to 11.30am this is an incredible value deal.

Priced at $25++ there is a choice of seven main dishes which come with a juice and tea or coffee. Not found in many establishments, is as much sourdough toast as you want.

Always looking for something different on the menu I chose the Omelette Arnold Bennett. Cooked with the finest quality smoked haddock this took me back to breakfast in Scotland.

Another main dish with a difference at The English House was the homemade buttered crumpets with poached free-range eggs. I love crumpets and put aside some to have just butter and jam with.

If you like extras there is an a la carte choice of grilled pork sausages, bacon, avocado amongst others.

Be sure to take a walk to the restrooms which will take you through all the rooms of The English House. A lovely bar in one room would make for a great drinks catch up amongst friends.

A little private room on the side where I could hear laughter from a bunch of men, sounded like there was fun to be had in this stylish corner far from the madding crowd.

There are so many rooms in this house to choose from. It all depends on the mood you are in when you walk in to The English House!

Again I rarely give 8/8 and this place certainly deserves it! This time all you need is to read all the reviews below as I would simply be repeating ALL of them. Brilliant!

The Grilled Rib Of Black Angus Beef ($225) is ideal for four persons. The 45-day dry-aged beef is excellent, and comes with braised spiced tendons. Also, Roast Rack Of Lamb, a la Dijonnaise ($165) easily serves four, with eight ribs of lamb that are nicely rare and juicy. This comes with mangetout (snow peas) and gratin dauphinoise.

Desserts, at $22 each, are not cheap either but they are good. Servings are not big, but share them anyway to spread the calories around.

Bread And Butter Pudding has just a thin layer of bread on top of smooth egg custard and is the most refined version of the iconic English dessert I have eaten. Or do away with the bread altogether and get a slice of English Egg Custard instead.

For something a little lighter, get the Champagne Poached Pear. The pear is perfect, and I say only a little lighter because it comes with creme vanilla that is to die for.

Mohammed Sultan Road in Singapore used to be the epicentre of partying for many years until Clark Quay came along and stole its crown. Times are changing and with the opening of several fabulous restaurants over the last year, Mohammed Sultan Road is back!

Marco Pierre White’s new eatery, The English House, is reminiscent of days of yore and has a distinctly colonial feel - which suits your English reporter perfectly and produced a pang of homesickness. The art is by London’s finest newspaper cartoonist Jack and the photography is a huge collection of classic Terry O’Neill photos - which included my several of my heroes.

When raffles hotel closed for renovation, it seems that they didn't want to hang on to their famous doormen, the tall Singh brothers Sarjit and Swaran, who have found a new home nestled in the opulent foliage.

Our gin martinis were fabulous and mixed completely perfectly

TThe English House is at 28 Mohamed Sultan Rd, S238972.

Beautiful place! And the food..... will definitely be back to try the rest. My party of 4 was privilege to have the beef Wellington. We were told that there were only 2 which made our decision to order a lot quicker. The pastry was fluffy, combined with the angus beef which was done med rare, the way we liked it. Very tender and reddish pink on the inside.

We also ordered the crispy pork belly served in a clay pot on a bed of kway teow. The noodles were a bit on the sweet side but the meat was very tender. Very, very yummy.

So many more dishes but unfortunately we only have one stomach. Hence, will definitely be back to try the rest.
