Offering a much-needed respite from the daily grind, Flamingo invites coffee lovers, day drinkers and anyone looking to pause and recharge into a welcoming space to sample artisanal brews and a newly launched Mediterranean food menu inspired by the seaside vibes the space exudes.
Flamingo is the all-day coffee bar arm of Stay Gold Flamingo, launched in September 2021 by homegrown bartending mavericks Jerrold Khoo and Bai JiaWei. Headlined by veteran barista Mohd Adly Soh Bin Mohd Azmy who as Head Barista and Bartender has designed the drinks programme there.
Adept at both pulling espresso shots and mixing cocktails, Adly’s previous stints at Kuala Lumpur’s VCR PLt, Caffe Fernet and 1880 Member’s Club sees him bringing to Flamingo a combined passion for both coffee and cocktails.
The hectic pace of buzzy Amoy Street slows to a comfortable rhythm as you step into Flamingo. Decorated in vibrant and playful pinkish hues reminiscent of daytime beach vibes, it is a casual, unpretentious space where guests can unwind and let their hair down. Underscoring the seaside chill is a curated playlist of groove, funk and indie tunes with a splash of disco nostalgia – a handpicked selection put together by the founders. Expect hospitality from the heart to encapsulate the warm, genuine and
attentive service there.
Head Barista Adly and his team have worked hand-in-hand with local specialty roaster Cumulo Coffee to develop custom coffee blends for Flamingo. Incorporating Ethiopian and Brazilian beans into the artisanal brews, each cup of joe provides notes of
chocolate and hazelnut, balanced by a hint of berries and a caramel finish.
The coffee menu boasts both straight Double Espresso ($4++), milk-based coffee drinks such as White ($6++) as well as innovative coffee-based concoctions such as the Coffee & Sparkling Coconut ($8++) and Dirty Matcha ($7++), a matcha latte from Gyokuro paired with a shot of espresso. Another brew concoction exclusive to Flamingo is the Flamingo Affogato ($10++).
Here, shots of espresso are poured over Bandung ice cream for a tantalising creation for the sweet-toothed. Feeling a bit cheeky? The Espresso Martini ($19++) is a definite crowd-pleaser.
Keeping things more personal, Flamingo will also be offering a seasonal coffee menu, where team members will be bringing back coffee blends from around the world during their travels.
Coffee aside, the beverage menu offers an extensive selection of drinks that are refreshing and easy on the palate, perfect for sipping and whiling the hours away. On offer is a curated selection of beer and an array of fruit-centric, low-ABV cocktails including the Aperol Kombu Spritz ($19++), made of strawberry kombucha, prosecco and Aperol; the sweet and refreshing Pink Guava Bellini ($19++), and Elderflower Cooler ($19++) which is perfect for Singapore’s tropical weather.
Flamingo’s food menu boasts nibbles that guests can tuck into any time of the day. Inspired by Mediterranean flavours, the new food menu launched this June showcases wholesome bites with creative twists on flavour combinations and portions that can easily be shared.
On offer are Pita Breads served with homemade dips like Courgette Pesto, Sunflower Hummus and Garlic Confit ($16++). There are also Mediterranean-centric salads that have been elevated with interesting flavour and textural combinations, the food options here are bound to satisfy — from convenient lunch-friendly bites as well as those hankering for heartier portions.
Diners can easily build up their meal portion by supplementing Orzo Salad ($14++) or Quinoa Salad ($14++) with additional portions of Steak ($8++) or Garlic Prawns ($6++) to their salad options.
