Sitting at The Copper Plate. It’s my 2nd visit. The first being a privileged “pre-soft opening peek”.
I must say that having patronised the 2 Quaich Bars owned by the same group and knowing the work put in by the Yanli (from Quaich Sth Beach) & highly regarded ex William Grant & Sons brand ambassador, Matthew Fergusson-Stewart, my thoughts are hardly a surprise to me.
Ambiance is already good with a few more final touches yet to come.
I’ve tried a number of food items:
- Seafood Noodles (8/10)
- Grilled Prawns (with a cheesy topping) (9/10)
- BBQ Japanese Squid (7.5/10)
- Chef’s off menu sampler, a tuna tataki. (8/10)
Of the drinks, I’ve had 2 cocktails, their Old Fashioned (a very well balanced interpretation that I thoroughly enjoyed) and a William Wallace that was pretty good too. I also tried ordering an Arran 10 by the carafe. I guess for “fun” rather than “serious” drams, it’s a more social way of imbibing and the younger crowds may well take to the concept. I enjoy trying several different drams each night so this style may not be for me.
Overall, I’m very comfortable here and can see myself returning regularly. Bravo to The Copper Plate.
