The Fold. Sri Lankan Inspired Sydney

CLOSED

The Fold has closed its doors, but you can now visit their new restaurant & bar @kurumba.syd in Surry Hills.

The Fold represents the culmination of two generations' passion for the culinary arts, blending the culinary expertise and experience of the father, Augustus, with the artistic pastry creations of Travin & Jason, whose youthful talent possesses an artistic flair beyond their years. Not to be overlooked is the linchpin of this endeavour, the momager Dilki, who keeps everything seamlessly together.

Drawing inspiration from their vibrant Sri Lankan heritage, they infuse traditional flavours with a modern twist, bringing them to Dulwich Hill. Whether you're starting your morning with a perfect cup of coffee and homemade pastry or gathering with friends for a flavourful lunch, The Fold offers a diverse array of mouthwatering dishes. Whether you dine in or opt for takeaway, you're in for a delightful treat.

Adulting comes with a lot of responsibility as well as the joy of eating a melt-in-the-mouth Japanese Cotton Cheesecake with Tahitian vanilla bean.

The makers of this cake and many wonderful ones are resident chefs at The Fold.

Apart from luscious desserts, the cafe is known for its sumptuous Sri Lankan fare, packing a punch in every bite.

Go for their Hopper Shakshouka made with a spice paste called lunu miris, Village Pol Roti or coconut flatbread with Beef and Potato Curry and Udaratta Appa or two hopper wraps filled with devilled beef.

Absolutely delicious!

THE FOOD

Indulge in a variety of Sri Lankan dishes, from our world-renowned hoppers to the more traditional milk rice.

We’ve incorporated our Lankan food into a more modern style, making it visually appealing and genuinely delicious.

But we haven’t forgotten the more familiar cafe classics such as avocado toast and bacon-and-egg rolls, which many love.

Without forgetting a nice iced coffee to go alongside, or maybe our faluda drink? Check out a variety of beverages typical to Sri Lanka.
