The Benesse House is an airy museum featuring contemporary paintings, sculptures, photos & installations, plus sea views.

The Benesse House Museum was opened in 1992 as a facility that integrates a museum and a hotel with the concept of "coexistence of nature, architecture, and art." The building, which stands on a hill overlooking the Seto Inland Sea and has a structure that guides the nature of the island into the interior through a large opening, was designed by Tadao Ando.

In addition to exhibiting paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations and other collections, there is a permanent site-specific work created by the artists for the location. The artists choose their own place and create their works. The works are installed not only in the exhibition space but also throughout the building, and are scattered in the coastline and forests surrounding the facility.

Together with the site-specific work scattered inside and outside the museum, such as works facing the nature of Naoshima or inspired by architecture, they are creating a rare place where nature, art and architecture are fused.

This restaurant is located on the basement of the Benesse House Museum. From the inside of the store, which has a large opening, you can appreciate the Seto Inland Sea and contemporary art from any seat, and enjoy your meal in an extraordinary space. They offer a seasonal menu with breakfast and lunch, including dinner centered on kaiseki cuisine made from the seafood of the Seto Inland Sea.

The Benesse HouseMuseum Cafe is a cafe on the 2nd floor of Benesse House Museum. You can easily enjoy light meals and drinks while gazing at the Seto Inland Sea under your eyes in the open atmosphere where natural light shines through the wide openings to the south and west. They also have a shop with art goods that are perfect for souvenirs, including books related to the Benesse House Museum.
