Refind is passionate about everything to do with glass. The collective acts responsibility to recycle and repurpose Singapore’s used glass. Whether you just want to do your bit for the island and the planet by ensuring your used glass is sustainably managed. Or you want to refind value for your own use, Refind provides a range of solutions.
It is interesting to note, glass bottles, jars, and containers are collected and sorted into the different colours and place of origin for recycling. Glass imported from different regions of the world are made in different factories with different recipes - materials and chemicals - that create the different colours. Bottles from one factory, may not be the same from glass fabricated in another factory. So bottles are further sorted into country of origin and even place of origin.
Refind is here for the good of both planet and people, finding renewed purpose through beautiful glassware and glass art, one otherwise-disposed-of bottle at a time. Their mission is to recycle all imported glass bottles to make Singapore a more sustainable place whilst raising awareness of the value and magic of glass.
Join a From Bottles to Beads session and understand the impact we can all make on our planet. Participants bring their own coloured bottles to the workshop and learn how to cut the bottles open and how to make a string of beads to take home.
The glass making session starts with basic instruction on how to operate the cold working and hot glass making equipment safely. This is followed by demonstrations and instruction sessions.
Gaining a fundamental understanding of glassmaking is the aim of this session. Learning about a new material is an exciting experience seeing the straight edges of the bottle soften to become rounded beads of glass. The result of the session is to create a bracelet of coloured beads ready to wear home created by your recycled bottles - final number of beads dependent on individual skill development.
