Matchaya is a modern Japanese Tea Shop that serves authentic and quality Japanese soft creams, sweets and milk teas.
In 2015, Matchaya began a life-changing journey around Japan with the intention of sourcing for the best premium ingredients from different prefectures for their teas.
Their raw ingredients are organic-certified, no preservatives are used, and the sugar level in our teas is minimal.

It’s all about the matcha at Matchaya, and they serve up some delectable desserts like the Matcha Tiramisu Cake, and Pata A Choux! They also have four different flavors of soft serve: Uji matcha, Houjicha, Hokkaido Milk, and Kurogoma (black sesame)! Even if you can’t make it to The Cathay, Matchaya delivers soft serve tubs with free delivery on a spend of over $60 – we’d suggest trying the Winter’s Here bundle for the perfect introduction to Japanese soft serve.
This outlet was the second outlet after the one in Tanjong Pagar and it just opened over the weekend. It took over the space formerly occupied by Cocoa Colony. Compared to the first outlet which was a takeaway outlet, this one had a dine in area which could sit about 10 persons. The menu here was also more extensive, including shaved ice and mochi. After placing order at the counter, one would receive a pagar. Collect your order at the collection counter when once it sounds.
Houjicha Kakigori (S$18.90)
Comes with Hokkaido cream espuma, sauce, shiratama, azuki & brownies
Also available in Matcha & Black Sesame (Not available at the time of ordering) flavours.
The shaved ice was smoother than the local ice Kacang but not as smooth as the Korean bingsu. Would prefer it to be slighter sweeter.
