During these unparalleled times, people need an escape. Bars are becoming more innovative to accommodate consumers while staying mindful of safety and sanitation.

MO BAR has introduced a distinctive system for customers to be able to access nightlife lifestyle beyond the traditional paper menu, bringing its creations to life with a fully interactive and digitally engaging menu to mimic the in-bar experience.

Launched in November 2020, MO BAR's Volume Three menu provides a quirky and inventive digital experience in these turmoil times. It is an unconventional experience as it is catered to guests virtually. Drinks are designed to embrace the new normal while exploring the history and culture of their chosen destinations across the Asia Pacific.

The virtual experience is convenient and tasteful. With a scan of a QR code or click of a button, guests will enter into a whole new world of cocktail drinks portrayed in flamboyant colours and animations.

Guests will be introduced on the first page with an animated star map that mirrors the same first page of the physical MO BAR menu. It is a collection of refreshing cocktails that will quench guests' thirst and cravings.

Users will also get to discover the various symbols representing the strength and glassware used for each drink. Like I said, an interactive experience virtually.

All the regionally inspired drinks in the virtual experience also include a complete description, story and close-up of the drinks, with illustrations and photos bound to keep the user engaged and show a preview of what they might be ordering. While exploring the full collection of drinks, swipe up and down to experience the beautiful colour transitions.

There are also other items to choose from, such as the food menu and takeaway cocktails to accompany the core drinks selection. To navigate back to the home page to find these appetizing items, guests can click on the compass at the top right of the page to reset back to the map.

The new digital menu can be accessed on mobile, desktop and on the iPad. Reservations can be made by emailing mosin-dining@mohg.com or calling +65 6885 3500.

MO Bar is fast becoming my second home and I am more than fine with that, the more I go, the more I love it. The welcoming service, luxury lounge and first-class F&B experiences ensure I always enjoy a stellar experience here.

I was thrilled to be invited back to try the launch of MO Bar’s Volume 3 cocktail menu – a menu that is updated annually after extensive research, trialling and testing by the dedicated team of creative nomads.

This time we got to discover a little bit more behind the scenes and it seems world-class cocktails are indeed both an art and a science. Visiting the impeccably clean and organised preparation space, I was amazed by the rows and rows of exotic ingredient jars, the sophisticated laboratory style equipment and the collection of unique and exotic vessels to present their artistic concoctions.

An understated attribute was their focus on sustainability and zero-waste cocktails. As much as possible they will use every aspect of the ingredient – from distilling the juice of a fruit into a clear flavourful liquid to dehydrating the rinds for garnish. Cocktails that are both delightful to look at, incredible to taste and good for the environment deserve major accolades in my view.

Onto the Volume 3 menu and the first highlight is the beautifully presented designer cocktail book (no QR codes thank goodness!). It’s easily the most impressive and artistic cocktail menu I’ve browsed through and similar to the previous volumes, takes the reader on a nomadic journey of South East Asia. Each of the 16 cocktails is associated with a South East Asian destination and the menu provides useful indicators of the alcohol strength, glass style, vessel size and key flavours – from herbaceous to spicy, silky to fragrant – there’s something to please everyone

Our group’s collective favourite was the Rubi from Sri Lanka, described as nutty spicy, it combined whiskey (which I normally wouldn’t drink), pineapple, toddy and exotic spices to create a smooth as silk almost Chai tea like experience. The White Rabbit from Gangnam, Korea quickly blew my mind as by taste it was a convincing Bloody Mary, but with it’s clear, pale brown liquid of tequila, tomato, kimchi and black garlic it looked nothing of the sort, a veritable trick for the senses. The Pastel de Ramos from Macau was served in a nostalgic blue and white floral vessel and was practically dessert in a drink – cognac with flavours of croissant and custard reminiscent of those ever so famous Portuguese egg tarts.

Along with the impressive cocktail list, we were also able to sample the new bar snacks menu – where the famous crispy Tiger Prawns with masala mayo and curry leaves tantalised our tastebuds while the more substantial Lobster Rolls and melt in your mouth MO Bar Burger ensured we were more than satisfied on the nourishment front.

The team at MO Bar should be very proud of what they have achieved with Volume 3, these cocktails are an outstanding testament to their creativity, dedication and pure passion.
