The SOCraft Awards Judging Committee is made up of 12 leaders from significant geographical markets in Asia's beverage and spirits industry. This eclectic group of judges includes independent bar owners, recognized bartenders, spirits writers, importers, and distributors from Asia.
Securing approval from this discriminating panel instantly elevates foreign businesses aiming for a breakthrough into Asia, establishing a strong foundation within the craft spirit scene.
Making Connections: Craft Distilleries and Asia's Bar Industry
The SOCraft Awards are more than simply awards; they provide a forum for craft distilleries to make vital relationships in Asia's bar business. David Kaye, SOCraft Awards Judging Committee member, and Editor-in-Chief of The Dot Magazine, emphasizes the awards' ability to connect local craft distillers with regional and worldwide counterparts.
Beyond accolades, the awards promote a supportive community by highlighting and discussing regional spirit-making trends.
Criteria for Eligibility and Judging Standards
Craft spirit makers from all around the world are eligible to participate as long as they meet the following requirements:
- Distillers must already brand themselves as craft spirits.
- Distilleries must be majority-held independently (at least 51%).
- Distilleries must produce no more than 750,000 gallons each year.
Judges assign points out of a possible 120 to entries based on scent, texture, finish, taste, sustainability impact, and overall impression. The awards include four degrees of excellence, with the top category, the "Platinum Award," recognizing world-class spirits with a score of more than 115.
Craft distilleries interested in competing in the SOCraft Awards 2024 can register their entries beginning January 1, 2024, and ending March 31, 2024, 12 AM (UTC/GMT +8:00).
