RATED 7 / 8

As I walked into Moonbow @ Dempsey the all-so-familiar English setting matched my expectations of a perfect afternoon tea setting.

With an option to have the Royal Mid Noon high tea priced at $58.80 for 2 this would be great for people like me who prefer a light noon meal. For the more traditional teetotalers, there is another array of tea treats in the Royal Mid Way of Tea offering that starts at 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

What’s outstanding at Moonbow is the choice of spaces – indoor so chic with black and white tiles and the perfect spot for a tete-a-tete or outdoor that looks out to a wide expanse of open greenery.

A departure from most tea menus, Moonbow’s treats are mostly savoury with dark chocolate-coated foie gras lollipops to start. I also thoroughly enjoyed the salted egg bacon bits choux pastry change from the usual cream puff.

So indulgent with parma ham rose and scallop flower amuse bouche these were served in a suitably chic rattan suitcase. All available in takeout too if you feel like having these delicious treats sent to you or pick up if you are in the area.

I would recommend adding on a glass of bubbly or two, to enjoy that catch up with friends. It just helps soak in the ambience of this beautiful space. Not being a high tea girl usually, this was one time I felt it appealed greatly.

Sweet treats had reduced sugar content and my pick of this line up was the matcha tart. Sprinkled with matcha powder on top, it had that bitter touch which I loved so much.

Anyone up for some bacon cheesecake? Well this was certainly a different take on the usual. Truly worth trying. Chef Heman the man behind the scenes popped over to explain his creative streak of inventions.

Not surprising that he created these delightful fusion treats considering he has published six books and is a potter too. You will see his crockery and cutlery designs when you visit. Totally exquisite!

Rock on down to see for yourself. It’s time to get out and about….
