The Singapore Lyric Opera (SLO) presents "Gala Concert - Puccini's Women," an homage to the 100th anniversary of Giacomo Puccini's death. This event, held at Victoria Concert Hall, features world-class performers such as soprano Nancy Yuen, South Korean tenor Lee Jae Wook, Singaporean baritone William Lim, and Opera Australia's Daniela Leska, who is making her debut in Singapore.
Audiences will be treated to a night of operatic excellence that blends storytelling with stunning music.
The SLO Orchestra, led by conductor Joshua Tan and assisted by the SLO Adult Chorus, will perform Puccini's masterpieces. Highlights include legendary arias like "Senza mamma," "Vissi d'arte, vissi d'amore," and "O mio babbino caro," which capture Puccini's heroines' emotional depths.
These performances, with no amplification, honour the pure vocal craftsmanship of bel canto opera, revealing the everlasting power of a live, unmediated voice in a modern world.
This concert, a must-see for both opera fans and newcomers, breathes new life into Puccini's legacy by providing an immersive experience of his most acclaimed pieces.
