Singapore Judy Craymer's global smash "MAMMA MIA!" beautifully combines ABBA's iconic melodies into a loving story set on a sun-kissed Greek island. "MAMMA MIA!" continues to be a beloved musical that crosses generations, having pleased Singaporean audiences in 2014 and 2018.
The enormously successful English-language International Tour, which began in Dublin in September 2004, has now visited 41 countries, staging over 3,500 shows and captivating over 7 million spectators. "MAMMA MIA!" made history in 2011 when it became the first Western musical to be presented in Mandarin in the People's Republic of China. It cemented its status even further by becoming the eighth longest-running production in Broadway history, with a record-breaking 14-year run.
Over 22 of ABBA's best singles, including "Dancing Queen," "Take A Chance On Me," "The Winner Takes It All," "Does Your Mother Know," and the title "Mamma Mia," propel the endearing story of love, humor, and friendship.
When "MAMMA MIA! The Movie" was released in 2008, it was the highest-grossing live-action musical picture. It was produced by Judy Craymer. Its sequel, "MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN," debuted in July 2018, becoming the most popular live musical film sequel of all time.
"MAMMA MIA!" is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd, and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast, with music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. Mark Thompson designed the production, which also includes lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, musical supervision, and new material and arrangements by Martin Koch.
"MAMMA MIA!" is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East, and Björn Ulvaeus for Littlestar in cooperation with Universal and NGM and is presented in Singapore by Base Entertainment Asia under the direction of Chantal Prudhomme.
