I am an avid cook, foodie, and traveler. For the past fifteen years since moving to Singapore I have been writing Islifearecipe, my blog. It started as a family update blog: much needed when living overseas from friends and family that all want to know how you and the kids are doing.

I have not just been living here though, rather I have embraced the country and its Asian neighbours as my 2nd home absorbing the cultures and of course the food. So, Is Life a Recipe is now a food blog that also offers travel guides with Foodies in mind, and copious amounts of recipes.

I am a Singaporean Permanent Resident, two of my five kids have been born here in Singapore and one of my sons has completed his National Service. Truly international with 2 half-Japanese, 1 half-Filipino, and two adopted Filipinos. I have a house in beautiful Bohol, the Philippines.

I had the great fortune to meet Anthony Bourdain once with his friend KF Seetoh at Singapore Streetfood Congress, and have many hawker uncles, and local and international Chefs that I call friends.

To date, in Singapore: I have been the only Angmo on MasterChef Singapore (Series 3), and was humbled to get to the final 13 from 1,000s of applicants. I have won a Jamie Oliver Pizza cooking competition, a Scotch Egg cooking competition alongside Michelin Star Chefs, and took over the restaurant Kilo Kallang for the night in a reality-style competition.

So, I pride myself on being somewhat of an authority when I write about restaurants and other reviews. I hope you like my articles here on ExpatChoice.
