Have you visited either Pulau Ubin, Lazarus Island or St. John's Island in the past 12 months? This has been the escape for residents of Singapore in these unprecedented times, but today we see a glimmer of hope. Video Credit: Lonely Travelog Media

We have featured many great experiences to discover in Singapore in recent weeks on Expat Choice, but now our travel plans may be able to include a safe corridor to Batam and Bintan as early at 21 April 2021.

We have it on good authority the proposed plan is to start reopening tourist spots in Nongsa on Batam and Lagoi on Bintan. This may take place as early as April 21. The proposed safe travel corridor between Singapore, Batam and Bintan is meant for Singapore residents to getaway for a weekend in Indonesia but if you live in Indonesia, this will not apply

So, if all goes according to plan, Indonesia could reactivate direct routes from Singapore's ferry terminal to Nongsapura ferry terminal in Batam and alternatively Bandar Bintan Telani ferry terminal in Bintan.

Singapore residents and foreigh tourists who want to enter either of the two areas would have to show a negative PCR test result. There would also be a track and trace technology that will be used to monitor all travellers.
