Setsu Niseko, SC Global's initial hotel, has won the coveted title of 'World's Best New Ski Hotel' at the World Ski Awards. Setsu Niseko, located in the heart of Japan's skiing paradise, competed against great ski resort properties from around the world, yet emerged triumphant in this highly regarded category.
The World Ski Awards, currently in their 11th year, serve as a global standard for excellence in ski tourism. The awards, which are recognised by the ski industry and international media, draw hundreds of thousands of participants from across the world, including ski experts, visitors, and enthusiasts who vote for their favourite sites and brands.
Setsu Niseko distinguished out against contenders such as Six Senses Crans Montana, The Comodo (Austria), and Badia Hill (Italy) in this year's hotly contested 'World's Best New Ski Hotel' category. The results demonstrate the hotel's commitment to providing a great ski experience in one of the world's most beautiful locations.
Simon Cheong, Founder and Chairman of SC Global Developments and the creator behind Setsu Niseko, expressed his delight at the achievement, saying, "This tremendous achievement fills us with immense pride and was only made possible by the dedication of the SC Global family." Cheong underlined the organization's innate commitment for excellence, emphasising that global recognition is a credit to the team's hard work.
Hotel Manager Michiko Tamoto expressed her appreciation, saying, "We are all incredibly honoured to receive this prestigious award and would like to thank the industry, our guests, and the local community for their recognition and support." Tamoto sees the award as a suitable acknowledgment to the team's effort to offering an exceptional guest experience, and she is looking forward to welcoming guests back to Setsu Niseko in the forthcoming winter season.
Setsu Niseko has already attracted notice on the awards circuit, having been named a top-three finalist in the Travel & Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific 2023. The hotel has also received the IALD Award of Merit at the 40th IALD International Lighting Design prizes, as well as acclaim in Japan with various design prizes, including the Kukan Design Award 2023, Japan Interior Design (JID) Award 2023, and JIPA's Interior Planning Award 2023.
