I called in to meet the team at Zealax Hotel & Residence today and I was blown away by the space, the enormity, the scope of this property. Designed by local Myanmar architects and executed brilliantly by Eskala - the developers.
Every last details has been thought of here under the guidance of General manager Mr Julian. He is an awesome individual. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his team and I felt like I was being welcomed to an old friends home. This place certainly has tapped into the inner soul of Yangon and the wonderful hospitality of the burmese people. Staff are at every turn and eager to please. They are all smiles, and breeding a sense of happiness and charitable fulfilment.
Taking time out to see this new additional to the International hotel segment in Yangon is a must. Happy hour will get you in from 6-8pm each evening. The restaurant (Five Continents on level 4) is fully operational and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a great 5 continent menu that changes with the time and tide of the seasons.
I was also impressed with the spacious rooms and the quality of the selection of the rooms.
Starting at as little as US$100 for a standard room - I felt this room was more like a deluxe superior than a standard. the finishing as international, the decor is international and the peacefulness of the space is heartwarming. I managed to see a room or two on this trip and have decided to come back on Saturday night for a well earned staycation. The rooms are all super sound proof. I could not hear a pin drop and the hustle and bustle of downtown life is just on the doorstep.
Views of shwedagon pagoda from one side of the hotel and residences and on the other - of the mystical river that winds its way through the heart of the city - can be seen for rooms on both sides of the property.
I really look forward to Saturday, There is also a polynesian buffet this saturday and the prices are so affordable. I tried a Carbonara today and it was as expected, italian and delicious. it set me back just US$8 - now in comparison to other western.International restaurants in Yangon - 5 Continents has you covered and its wallet friendly.
For those looking for long term accommodation this is almost too good to be true. The residence offer 1, 2 and three bedroom serviced apartments and that are "MASSIVE" I couldn't help to ask what the rate per month was thinking it was going to be New York prices.... but again I was surprised to learn a 1 Bedroom fully furnished and equipped with everything from washer. dryer, large fridge, all kitchen and eating appliances, gorgeous wine glasses and top of the rage cups and plates etc.... was mid to high US$2000 a month - now really in the big scheme of things this is so affordable if you are a couple expecting to come live in Yangon.- winning here. This hotel is going to go off the charts in Trip Advisor...congratulations guys.... see you all on the weekend for my staycation experience..... and I must pack my bathers and enjoy the pool. and float on one of those floating cushions..... dreaming of this right now
