In commemoration of International Primate Day on September 1, the resort is strengthening its conservation goal with engaging, instructive, and amusing programs highlighting the region's critically endangered red-shanked douc langurs.
With approximately 1,000 of the estimated 2,500 douc langurs remaining in the wild calling the surrounding forest home, InterContinental Danang plays a vital role in safeguarding this unique primate population.
Primate Appreciation Month will transform the resort into a bustling centre of wildlife-themed exploration. Wildlife expeditions, creative yoga sessions, interactive exhibitions, mixology experiences, children's scavenger hunts, and conservation workshops are among the activities available to families, couples, and single visitors. Whether tourists are wellness enthusiasts, nature lovers, or simply looking for exceptional vacation experiences, the resort has something for everyone.
The Green Hub, an exhibition space, will hold regular presentations by Mr Trung Quân, a resident naturalist and former national park ranger. His talks focus on the red-shanked douc langur's distinctive traits and critical needs, while also encouraging guests to contribute to conservation efforts. Monkey Yoga provides playful, energising classes for those seeking a spiritual connection with nature, while the L_o_n_g Bar serves up a cheeky menu of "monkey cocktails" and banana splits crafted with locally sourced ingredients.
The Son Tra Wildlife Expedition, launched this year in collaboration with Next Continent Travel, provides nature lovers with a unique opportunity to explore the peninsula's rainforest terrain. The guided trip, which runs twice a day, allows guests to witness native animals in their natural habitat, such as birds, butterflies, and, of course, douc langurs. Meanwhile, the resort's dedication to habitat preservation continues with the upkeep of its well-known Monkey Bridges, hand-woven crossings in the tree canopy that are essential for the monkeys' free movement and feeding routines.
Guests can participate in the new M Club Tour, which is inspired by the legend of "Charles," the resort's iconic monkey mascot. This behind-the-scenes tour reveals monkey-themed interiors, banana-inspired art, and a unique private theatre where wildlife documentaries will be shown throughout the month, providing yet another opportunity to interact with the cause.
Younger guests will enjoy innovative Scavenger Hunts that reward the finding of cuddly langur toys, as well as Kids' Monkey Yoga programs on Saturdays that aim to educate via movement and enjoyment. These engaging exercises are intended to foster empathy and ecological awareness in the next generation of environmentalists.
