The State of Selangor is the heart of Malaysia, and the most-developed State in the country. Home to a vast list of Tourism attractions, Selangor should be on your travel bucket list.

Located in Peninsular Malaysia, Selangor is rich with history and heritage, and diverse cultures, topped with a wide range of gastronomy. The State is also home to a vast list of tourism attractions and, entertainment and exciting destinations up for visits.

The State’s advancement in modern technology and high connectivity and accessibility are also factors towards making the State a destination of choice for domestic and international travelers as it is convenient for them to explore the gems of Selangor, even with public transportation.

On the other hand, Singaporean tourists have been contributing a significant number of arrivals into the State. The travel trends for Singaporean tourists include sport activities (either soft or extreme), retail and shopping, eco-tourism activities and cultural and heritage appreciation.

As such, the following list is put together by Tourism Selangor, Selangor’s Official Tourism Promotion Agency, on what Selangor has to offer when it is time to travel again!

Selangor

Selangor is a melting-pot of culture, history and heritage from having a variety of ethnic groups such as Malay, Chinese and Indian races with diverse cultural backgrounds.

For tourists who are keen to know Malaysian cultures, why not enjoy the Royal Klang Heritage Walk Tour and Kajang Heritage Walk Tour Programmes which bring tourists to iconic and historical sites in Klang and Kajang town by foot.

Furthermore, there are other attractions such as Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Blue Mosque (Malaysia’s largest mosque and second largest mosque in Southeast Asia by capacity), and Sultan Alam Shah Museum in Shah Alam as well as Malawati Hill in Kuala Selangor (historical site which consists of the lighthouse, cannons, a poisonous well from the early 1700s).

In addition, Orang Asli Museum in Gombak which showcases the history and traditions of the Orang asli (indigenous tribe in Selangor) is another interesting place where tourists can learn on the State’s history and heritage.

Selangor has many sports activities that tourists can experience for those who are hungry for some thrilling challenges and adrenaline-pumping adventures. Some of the activities are hiking, taking dips in the rivers and waterfalls, enjoying scenic picnics, jogging, paragliding, water sport activities and many more.

Tourists may opt for Skytrex Sungai Chongkak in Hulu Langat which is the longest flying fox park in Malaysia, Kanching Eco Forest Park which has 7 layer of waterfalls or simply take on a paragliding challenge in Kuala Kubu Bharu town and fly through the air.

While enjoying your holiday in the State, Tourism Selangor gently reminds tourists to always maintain the 1-meter social distancing and adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to protect themselves and their loved ones while traveling.

Worry not, hygiene SOPs are highly emphasized and widely practiced in Selangor, providing for a safe travel destination for all; the locals and the warmly-welcomed international tourists, especially from Singapore.
