Introducing Tits Up And Coming Out Swinging, the latest series by Addicted's Samantha Redfern. If you've been with us for a while, you'll recognise Samantha's beautiful Cityscapes series, an abstract take on the buildings and the lush, tropical greenery of Singapore.
Samantha is now heading in a different direction with her graffiti-style paintings. Big, bold canvasses which are impossible to ignore. She's letting loose and going wild in her latest abstract expressionist body of work (Let it go, let it go. Can't hold it back anymore...)
In the words of the artist: "As an artist, I want to be seen, and I want my work to be noticed. Perhaps it has taken me until the age of 38 to have the confidence to realise ambition and drive are not shameful words for a woman to associate with. I deserve my place in the art world. Sadly women in art are still underrepresented and undervalued. But we have the power to change that. Art should be judged on its own merit and not the gender of the person holding the paintbrush. I'm just going to keep creating, experimenting and being me. My graffiti-style pieces aren't going to be for everyone, but I'm cool with that. They won't go quietly into a room. These guys are going to command some attention."
