KidzWorld, a brand new attraction, made its grand launch at the Singapore Zoo, marking a key milestone in the zoo's history. The inauguration event, headed by Ms. Jane Ittogi and Mandai Wildlife Group Group CEO, Mr. Mike Barclay, showcased this one-hectare utopia for children and families.
KidzWorld is the pinnacle of the zoo's 50-year heritage of providing children with an immersive and informative experience with animals. It builds on the success of Rainforest KidzWorld (2009) and Children's World (1991) by providing a unique blend of learning and enjoyment. Its goal is to instill in young minds a deep love and respect for nature, animals, and wildlife. The attraction includes a world-class petting zoo, interactive play areas, and an exciting water maze for children. Mike Barclay, the director of the zoo, says, "Zoos play a pivotal role in instilling a love and respect for nature through meaningful interactions with animals and nature-based learning experiences."
KidzWorld is also the official home of Ranger Buddies, an innovative 'edutainment' programme that fosters responsible global citizens that inspire good change. The newly added Ranger Buddies Quest offers interactive park experiences in which youngsters embark on missions with smart binoculars and a companion app, visiting outposts to learn about animal health, care, and nutrition.
Furthermore, children can learn the seven key C.O.U.R.A.G.E. life skills that will prepare them for the future. Each of these characteristics connects to a particular zone inside KidzWorld, encouraging youngsters to feel unafraid of getting up close and personal with their animal friends. The Animal Behaviour and Programmes team began conditioning the 250 animal residents in June 2023, and the mini migration to KidzWorld occurred on October 21, 2023. The transition went smoothly, with the animals willingly entering boxes with the assistance of their trainers.
Guests can visit both Singapore Zoo and River Wonders for $54 for adults and $38 for children. This WildPass offer bundle is only available to residents and can be purchased until December 30, 2023, with visits valid from November 1 to December 30, 2023.
The opening of KidzWorld is a highlight of Singapore Zoo's Golden ZOObilee celebrations, which have seen over 330,000 visitors since May 2023. The celebrations have included the ART-ZOO Happy ZOObilee Party, the Backstage Pass: Incredible Invertebrates tour, and the Mandai Wildlife Run.
