I always hoped that if I were ever to have children they would appreciate art. Luckily my daughter does! We often go to art galleries and museums together and discuss about objects on display. There are so many nice places where you can expose your children to art and design in Singapore and here's our favourite places:
We have been to several art workshops however the one we both liked the most was Little Artducated. Art workshops like that are basically a heaven for kids to unleash their artistic potential and a safe place to get messy all over. Thea was covered in paint from head to toes and had a big smile on her little happy face!
The class started with a couple of warm-up songs & dance, after which the girls were given a wide variety of utensils and mediums such as paint of various colours, acrylic, watercolour, ink, crayons and even a giant carton house to express themselves and let the magic happen.
Teachers were very kind and playful so at the end of the session Thea ran to one of the teachers and asked to hug her. So, mummies and daddies in Singapore, if you need ideas of where fun to go with your kids, then look no more!
Know before you go:
- Do bring extra clothes, wet wipes and a towel.
- Address: 878A Tampines Ave. 8, 03-11, Singapore
- Nearest MRT: Tampines
- Little Artducated has moved to new premises since our visit. The new studio is smaller than the one in the photos and can only accommodate 5 children at a time. Therefore please contact and book your place in advance. I inserted a link to their Instagram account.
KEPPEL CENTRE FOR ART EDUCATION @ NATIONAL GALLERY SINGAPORE
Our favourite gallery in Singapore is the National Gallery Singapore and Thea especially loves its Keppel Centre for Art Education on the ground floor. If you need some inspiration of where to take your kids, this sure is THE place to go.
There are many exciting museum programmes for children all year round, basically every time we go there is something new to do and see. Based on the belief that every person is born creative, signature spaces in the Centre provide an artistic environment that will stimulate the imagination of the little ones. There are plenty of hands-on experiences for children of all ages. Thea particularly likes to use the stamps!
And it’s not just kids friendly, the centre offers special educational programmes designed for youth and adult learners too.
Know before you go:
- Location: 1 St Andrew's Rd, Singapore 178957 Ground floor in the National Gallery Singapore

NATIONAL GALLERY SINGAPORE FOR KIDS
While Keppel Centre for art education is specifically aimed at children, there are more things for kids to see in the National Gallery. Thea loves their abyss installation. I am still surprised how she is not afraid of heights!
One of the reasons I like visiting art galleries and museums with her is that I’m curious to hear what she says when she relates stories in paintings with her own experiences. I strongly believe that empowering young children to view and discuss art in the context of the art gallery gives them many powerful learning opportunities.
I also recommend checking out GALLERY KIDS! It is an online portal on National Gallery's website for children to learn more about art. They have a lot of free online resource for children such as various activity guides, I spy games, art posters for kids with questions that prompt discussions and creative thinking, videos about stories in art as well as advice for parents about artful parenting.
Know before you go:
- Nearest MRT: City Hall
- Admission: $20 standard/Free for locals. Children aged 6 and below can visit for free.

It is an entertaining immersion in the world of art, science, magic and metaphor through a collection of incredible digital installations. I have a separate blog post about visiting the Future World with children and you can find it here.
