Tambapanni Collective – a luxury e-commerce platform that pays tribute to the best of Sri Lankan traditional and contemporary fashion, art, jewellery, travel, and wellness – launches in Singapore. The handpicked collection of ethical, bespoke labels is inspired by the Kingdom of Tambapanni and is an ode to quintessential Sri Lankan heritage and culture.

With a background in finance, Shimna Chandan, CEO and Founder of Tambapanni Collective, recognised that many of her go-to Sri Lankan labels were not easily accessible to international audiences. In a bid to bridge the gap between Sri Lankan luxury and international audiences, she set out to launch the collective of carefully curated brands.

“Tambapanni Collective prides itself in being a pioneering champion of meaningful Sri Lankan luxury to global markets, fueled by the desire to pay tribute to the rich culture and heritage of Sri Lanka,” says Shimna Chandan, Founder and CEO of Tambapanni Collective. “Their goal is to shine the spotlight on Sri Lankan artisans and invite global audiences to celebrate their craft with them.”

The official launch soirée will take place on Sunday 19th March 2023 at 1880 (Level 3, InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay), hosted by local Indian actor and host, KP Sandhu. Her Excellency, Shashikala Premawardhane, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore, will grace the occasion as Guest of Honour.

Pepper Crab

A five-course sit-down dinner experience, complete with premium wine pairings, will be presented by Sri Lanka’s most renowned Chef and celebrity restauranteur, Dharshan Minidasa of Ministry of Crab fame. The menu will feature fresh premium Sri Lankan mud crabs prepared four ways.

Creamy and umami Crab Liver Paté served with kithul treacle (palm sugar syrup) and melba toast kicks off the meal, followed by a fresh Avocado Crab Salad with a potent kick of wasabi mayonnaise. For main courses, guests can look forward to Ministry of Crab’s take on Pepper Crab, where fresh crab is cooked in a fiery, moreish sauce of hand-crushed peppercorns and pepper dashi, and indulgent Garlic Chili Prawn cooked in a style unique to the restaurant. Finally, sweet Coconut Crème Brûlée puts a Sri Lankan twist on the classic French dessert for a satisfying end to the meal.

Interested parties for Tambapanni Collective’s official launch event can contact 1880 to purchase tickets at $400++ (excluding service charge and taxes), either via phone (+65 6304 3203) or via WhatsApp (+65 9648 1880).
