The Pine Garden products perpetuate a truly Singaporean heritage and they strive to bring the best of service personalisation to customers in Singapore. However, this was not without putting up a fight with the changing economic environment, especially with the wave of new-school bakery chains in precinct shopping malls.

In their twentieth year of business, The Pine Garden Founders reached the verge of shutting the business, which led to the takeover by Mr Wei Chan, who could not bear to see the end of his family business. The former Regional Marketing Manager of a US based MNC has since made waves by reinventing the business into a boutique heartland-bakery.

Today, The Pine Garden customer base has expanded beyond just the community of Ang Mo Kio. Apart from closing for nine days during the Lunar Chinese New Year period, The Pine Garden is open everyday - even through public holidays from 8.30am to 9.30pm.

Thinking of what to buy Mum for Mother’s Day? Look no further. Pine Garden are ingenuous in their unique offering of cakes that are so creatively blended with amazing flavours.

A heartland-boutique bakery with a track record of 38 years under their belt, it is no wonder that Pine Garden ride the curve of uncertainty and withstand external pressures.

Decadent cakes fit for every occasion I tried the Rambutan Osmanthus Yogurt cake this time. Sounding extremely healthy and looking very demure in pastel pink, this almost looked fit for a wedding. At $65.50 a kilo this is also available in slices.

My niece Evelyn was over and she set a new record. With delicious lychee in every bite she took a mere two seconds to finish a piece. We had a good laugh. A fluffy not too sugary sponge with fruit and yoghurt complementing the mix, this is a really unusual cake to try.

We also tried a few different slices of other cakes. The Autumn Crisp Moscato Mousse Cake, a blissful cake made with autumn’s crisp grapes, velvetish mousse and Moscato grape jelly. This added a fun texture with that slant of booze, a flavourful autumn journey for the palate.

The Lemon Honey Bitter Gourd, a light vanilla sponge cake was covered in honey lemon fresh cream. Who would have thought to make a cake with bitter gourd? Contrary to belief, it was the bitter gourd juice jello that made for a perfect bitter-sweet masterpiece. Not to be missed! Refreshing, unconventional, healthy and so tasty!

So easy to comprehend why Lychee Martini was the Pine Garden’s signature and best-selling cakes! So light and fluffy, this lychee cake was decadently layered with martini-soaked lychee fillings. Wow! An absolute burst of pleasure with every mouthful!

The Yam Orh-Ni Chiffon cake, layered generously by homemade cream (Orh-Ni Yam paste) was smothered with big chunks which provided a wonderful contrasting texture to the soft and fluffy chiffon cake. For yam lovers this is a must try.

My favourite of the four though was the bitter gourd slice. It was actually amazing! The bitterness of jello tasted a bit like grapefruit, a perfect match to the lemon honey cream!

Pine Garden offer many other flavours - Pulut Hitam, Coffee Whisky Caramel, Gula Melaka Attap Chee, Mango Pomelo Sago, White Rabbit, Milk Tea Brown Sugar BBT,  Meat Floss & Bacon Cheesecake, Tangy Umeshu and more.

If your mouth is watering just reading this, then enjoy an early bird discount for a retail purchase and advance order on these specially created Mother’s Day treats. Take advantage of the 10% order special if placed before 1st May 2022.

It’s time to put Pine Garden on your radar as Chinese New Year approaches. Connoisseurs of cookies and cakes, this boutique bakery has 37 years to its name with products that perpetuate a Singaporean heritage.

What struck me first as I opened the Pine Garden bag was the unusual number of savoury treats – bacon and cheese chiffon cake, pork floss cookies, chicken biscuit and chicken floss cookies.

Zooming in on the chiffon cake I found its light, moist texture to be a great dessert or for that matter, a breakfast and tea time favourite too. I also tucked in to the chicken floss cookies as this sweet and savoury cookie has more chicken floss added in this year. Certainly amps it up and makes it more addictive!

Hailing from the heartlands in Ang Mo Kio, bakers at Pine Garden handcraft goodies while keeping them as close to traditional taste as possible. Usual offerings like my favourite pineapple tarts are a definite item on the list. Other cookie delights include honey cornflake, dark chocolate, cheese butter, orange cranberry.

As people prepare to usher in the Chinese New Year of the Tiger and roar towards a glorious new year, many are scouring bakeries wondering where to buy the best. At an average price of $25 a pack, Pine Garden who have certainly made a name for themselves are still in the game.

Gong Xi Fa Cai everyone!

Could this amazing and tantalizing Sriracha Chocolate Bacon log inject some spice & cheek in the traditional Christmas favourite?

We tried cakes from a Singapore institution Pine Garden. Pine Garden is a well-established boutique bakery on our little Island. It has been around since 1984. Yes! They definitely are masters of their cake making craft. They are reputable and easy to find in-person or online for all your cake needs.

The cake flavours they offer range from trendy, exquisite, new and bold flavours such as lychee martini log, white rabbit log, tangy choya umeshu log, the sriracha chocolate bacon log to more classical flavours such as the black forest log cake and cakes from their nostalgic collection.

We tried a few flavours. The sriracha chocolate bacon (0.8 kg - $63.00) hit all the right notes for us. The big bold honey roasted bacon meets sriracha. The chocolate bringing them together it is indeed a match made in heaven. It is a flavoursome adult cake with the palate being tantalized by fiery sriracha and salty bacon.

The other unique log we tried was the tangy choya umeshu log (0.8 kg - $63.00). This is a take on rum & raisin with Japanese choya umeshu liqueur. The umeshu liqueur has a sweet and sour taste. With alcohol content usually between 10-15%. The umeshu is paired with light salted sour plum sponge cake.

Some of the other sweet tempting things of note are their signature evergreen baby pink in colour lychee martini log (0.8 kg - $53.90), the black forest log (0.8 kg - $ 53.90), the fresh strawberry cream cake, the baked cheese cake and many more. Visit them or pre-order online from now till 10 December, 2021 to get a discount.
