Housed along the ground floor of Pacific Plaza, the space is designed as a pink and white pastry wonderland that plays to the pleasing aesthetic the brand is widely known for.

Through playful manipulation of its signature croissant dough comes the brand-synonymous Cruffins (all at $5.80) – essentially rolled hybrids baked in muffin trays. When baked, the result is a puffed-up pastry that is layered and flaky outside while remaining gloriously moist inside.

The opening assortment introduces an indulgent trio that are each cream-piped and sugar-dusted with a Tiramisu Cream for the coffee and sweet addicts; Mint Chocolate Chip Cream for a refreshing chocolate-y breath; and a weekend-only exclusive Peanut Butter Milkshake that tastes just as decadent as it sounds.

For those seeking a softer treat, a trio of brioche donuts are also available for them to sink their delicate teeth into. Each loaded with a peep of pastry cream to hint of the stuffing beneath, donut lovers can select between classic choices of Chocolate and Strawberries and Cream (both at $5.80), or a Plum Yuzu Jam ($6.50) for an oozy, tangy surprise that's only available for bites on the weekends.

Upon stepping in, white-tiled walls, bold pink ceilings, tinted windows and minimal hanging lights present a vibrance perfect for indulgence. Those who are familiar with its stores will be thrilled to see the return of the "I Got Baked" signage located by the side exit for photo opportunities.

Moving on to the classic forms, highlights include a fruity duo of Lemon Meringue Pie croissant that comes piped with lemon curd and a topping of torched meringue, and a Raspberry Hibiscus croissant with its tangy and floral delight of hibiscus curd, raspberry cream and finishing dresses of white chocolate shards and raspberry leather.

RATED 7 / 8

Originators and trademark owners of the Cruffin hybrid, Mr Holmes Bakehouse has arrived with a flagship here in Singapore.

Hand crafted daily retailing at $5.80 this is a hybrid of croissant rolled up on a muffin tray. With 3 flavours of cream filling – tiramisu, mint chocolate chip and peanut butter these are totally indulgent.

While I thought of sharing my tiramisu cruffin initially it didn’t quite seem so easy to portion. What the heck? That was reason enough to eat the lot and boy was it scrumptious.

Flaky on the outside with a soft texture on the inside, I totally knew they were calorific but c’est la vie! It is what it is. My treat for the week so I threw guilt out the door!

If you are one who prefers a traditional croissant Mr. Holmes Bakehouse also has varieties that are filled with lemon or mango curd. The former being my absolute favourite as tart flavours somehow lead me to think that there is less sugar.

Donut fans come on down for you are in for a treat. With 3 flavours to choose from – chocolate, strawberries & cream and yuzu plum jam, one bite and you’d have these fillings oozing out.

As I said before, forget about sharing these treats. Just decide to have a naughty day and do it!

Savoury varieties of sandwiches are also on offer with pulled pork, tomato pesto and bacon habanero to choose from. I did also enjoy the open-faced puff pastry cheesecake crème brulee and Jalapeno bacon danish as savoury offerings help me re-balance the sugar fix I was having.

For $7 each these Danish pastries would make for a good starter if cut in 4 and served as hors d’houvres at a dinner party. For some gut reprieve, I would contrast my sweet choices above with a kombucha drink at the end.

Mr. Holmes Bakehouse seems to have something for everyone. Kids would love the in-store toy and merchandise pop-up after grabbing a few cruffins and donuts to go. Located in Pacific Plaza on Scotts with island-wide delivery you can't miss this very pink venue. GrabFood are just a phone call away.

Give your family a treat and get baked at Mr. Holmes Bakehouse. I loved it. I am sure you will too.
