Welcoming the festive season is always a treat with Da Paolo online gourmet grocery shop in Singapore as they reinvent delicious ways to tempt our taste buds with traditional Italian Christmas fare.
The king of the Da Paolo dessert table are of course their famous log cakes and this year they have introduced two exceptional new flavours - Pistachio Raspberry Log Cake ($95) and Salted Caramel Macadamia Log Cake ($78).
Of course the much-loved Flourless Chocolate Log Cake ($68) is back and this sumptuous version of a classic is oozing with Valrhona dark chocolate ganache – perfectly moist, not too sweet and as an added bonus is gluten-free and nut-free. The perfect Christmas dessert for even the fussiest eaters.
As for the new flavours, well I couldn’t go past the Pistachio Raspberry Log Cake – it was absolutely divine! And what’s even better are the gorgeous green and red colours which make it a truly wonderful addition to your Christmas table. The Salted Caramel Macadamia Log Cake is also table-worth particularly for those that enjoy the contrast of a sweet and salty combo.  Â
Adding some pizazz to the Christmas table are the chocolate wreaths – petite and decorative they come in a Dark Chocolate Pistachio Wreath ($24.90) and a White Chocolate Candied Fruit Wreath ($24.90). The wreaths are crispy, sweet and bursting with Christmas flavour – it’s well worth adding a few of these to your table.
Let’s not forget Christmas treats for the kids – the cute gingerbread offerings are both festively fun and made with super soft and flavoursome gingerbread – at $6.90 you can choose from a Gingerbread Boy, Gingerbread Girl or a Gingerbread Tree.
And finally for the perfect gift to give hosts or as a stocking filler, the lavish tin of Italian Pistachio Cookies ($38) provides both a delicious treat and a festive keepsake.
The Main Attraction – Roasts
Lo and behold, a piping hot roast is set on the table, ready to be tucked into. Da Paolo dishes out boneless, large-format roast meats such as the customary Christmas bird elevated as an easy-to-carve Stuffed & Deboned Roast Turkey ($358, approximately 4kg) - pictured below - with three layers of stuffing. In the centre is Cotechino, a traditional Italian style sausage served during Christmas time.
Made with pork meat, rind and lard, the sausage is encased in a robust mix of chestnuts, leeks, and mushrooms, followed by a final layer of aromatic chorizo spiced mince. The turkey is served alongside roasted potatoes, carrots, onions, and a tangy house-made fresh passion fruit sauce. The photo-worthy epicurean highlight is good for 10 to 12 persons, and if there are leftovers, keep them for sandwiches or salad toppings.

New and taking centrestage this year, the decadent Braised Beef Roulade ($158, approximately 1kg) is good for sharing amongst 4 to 6 persons. The beef brisket is rolled with a fragrant medley of truffled mushrooms before braising in red wine till tender. Laced in its own juices and gravy, and served with hearty roasted potatoes, carrots, and celery, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
The Stuffed & Deboned Roast Chicken ($138, approximately 1.2kg) is ideal for a group of 6 to 8 persons. Brimming with a moreish stuffing of sauteed mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, and eggplant, the succulent chicken is accompanied with housemade passion fruit sauce. A perennial favourite for the festive season is the perfectly spiced and juicy Honey Baked Ham ($178, approximately 2kg) that serves 8 to 10 persons. Imparting a spicy and sweet aroma from its studded cloves, complement each honey-glazed pork ham slice with a slathering of tangy passion fruit sauce.
Showstopping Sides
The feast is complete with a resplendent array of stunning sides that make for superb accompaniments to the roasts. Serving 4 to 6 persons, the Brussels Sprouts, Turnips & Cranberry Salad ($65) is an appetising, crunchy raw salad of finely shaved Brussels sprouts and crisp turnips tossed with dried cranberries, olive oil, lemon juice and black pepper.
Other wholesome sides include the fluffy Couscous Salad ($52) that delights with sweet raisins, spicy rocket leaves, diced capsicum, and sweet potatoes; as well as the chilled and chunky Tuna Tortellini ($59) salad comprising creamy spinach and ricotta-filled tortellini mixed with tuna chunks, black olives, fresh tomatoes, and olive oil.
New to the tantalising spread this year is Sausages, Gravy & Potatoes ($88). Good for 8 to 10 persons, baked pork sausages and potatoes are roasted with garlic and fresh thyme, served in a flavoursome red wine gravy.
A resplendent array of sides Pasta lovers will take to the Beef Lasagna Tray ($80) - pictured above - and Bolognese Pasta Tray ($95), or the all-time favourite, the Truffle Mac & Cheese ($99) baked with Italian cheese and homemade béchamel, drizzled with Italian truffle oil. These hearty baked pastas each serve 4 to 6 persons.
The Sweeter Things in Life
Bedazzle party guests with a splendid line-up of irresistible sweet treats starting with the dainty edible Christmas wreaths. A scrumptious and beautiful decoration for the table, Da Paolo’s signature chocolate wreaths feature a crunchy base of homemade granola and cornflakes.
The Dark Chocolate Pistachio Wreath ($24.90) sees the mix coated with bittersweet dark chocolate and Sicilian pistachios, topped with cranberries, hazelnuts, and more pistachios. A ‘snow-covered’ rendition, the new White Chocolate Candied Fruit Wreath ($24.90) is enveloped in white chocolate and bejewelled with colourful candied fruits.
For a stunning finale, Da Paolo presents a line-up of wonderful log cakes in, for the very first time, not one but three flavours. This year, the traditional Yule logs takes on a contemporary Italian spin.
Relish the Salted Caramel Macadamia Log Cake ($78, approx. 1kg), a cloud-like vanilla sponge cake rolled with salted caramel ganache and caramelised macadamia, and crowned with macadamia brittle; Pistachio Raspberry Log Cake ($95, approx. 900g) that sees light pistachio cake rolled with tart homemade raspberry jam and covered in a dreamy Sicilian pistachio cream and more pistachios; and lastly, a gluten-free and nut-free Flourless Chocolate Log Cake ($68, approx. 800g) made with Valrhona chocolate cake covered in dark chocolate ganache.
A more traditional and enchanting celebration is the setting for Da Paolo’s timeless Signature Tiramisu Party Tray ($128), and soft and lightly spiced Gingerbread Cookies ($6.90) in assorted shapes of a girl, boy and Christmas tree.

Da Paolo’s festive offerings can be ordered via the online gourmet grocery shop in Singapore from 1 November to 31 December 2022 or while stocks last (whichever is earlier), for self pick-up from any Da Paolo Gastronomia outlet, and delivery from 11 November 2022 to 4 January 2023.
Festive Roasts and Italian Hampers are available for online orders only. A minimum of 3 days is required for orders to be processed and delivery arrangements to be confirmed.
