Leckerbaer, a Copenhagen-based pastry shop known for modern interpretations of Danish cookies announces the opening of its official flagship in Singapore.
Nestled along the bustling Keong Saik locale in a conserved shophouse, the new flagship is poised as an oasis where pastry lovers and café seekers can escape into cosiness albeit briefly, over a delightful assortment of signature småkagers in festive flavours, small bakes and open-faced sandwiches in an inviting Scandinavian-inspired setting.
Despite initial concerns of launching amidst a pandemic, Leckerbaer’s proposition of introducing hygge – the Danish mentality of living in cosiness and contentment – through hand-crafted tiny worlds of delight took off. With its presentation of delicately sized, aesthetically pleasing and surprisingly balanced flavours all packaged into boxes of discoveries, it was an easy winner for a thoughtful, uplifting gift.
Open Mondays to Thursdays from 10am - 10pm, 12pm onwards on weekends, with extended late nights till 11.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays - the ambiance remain consistent whether for an afternoon break or a post-dinner catch-up over sweets, Those visiting in daytime will notice rays of natural light permeating through a perforated rattan ceiling above the lounge while the later hours are illuminated with warm lighting to ease diners into the mood for relaxed indulgence.

In current rotation, chocolate lovers will love the spice caked inspired Chocolate that come contrasted with tangy calamansi and blackcurrant; Milk for an Oreo-inspired bite of mint buttercream pressed between two chocolate cookies with a semi-circle dusting of red berry powder, and the Ruby Chocolate for a pink glazed ring dolloped with cherry jam.
On the fruitier end, the Vanilla layers lemon and blackberry curd atop a vanilla cake with a heart-shaped tuile to bring a crunch; a Hazelnut cinnamon cake piped with lemon meringue and chocolate shards; and Passionfruit which stands out with its blackcurrant powder-dusted meringue flower on an almond financier piped with blackberry and passionfruit curd.
Keeping in theme with its Nordic origins, the menu at Keong Saik introduces a concise but hearty selection of outlet-exclusive open-faced sourdough sandwiches to satiate. Carbo-loading comes in Roasted Baby Potatoes & Bacon pictured above ($18) where roasted baby potatoes are paired with crispy bacon, pickled red onions and horseradish mayo. In reflection of a region known for having a seafood-forward diet, highlights include a perennial Smoked Salmon and Onsen Egg pictured above ($21) that sees strips of Norwegian salmon, zucchini, pickled onions and peppery mizuna on a cream cheese slather; while the Jonah Crab & Avocado Salsa ($20) adds umami to classic with generous shreds of crab meat atop an avocado salsa with sprinklings of fresh chervil and chives.
