This is the eighth time Qatar Airways has won the coveted Airline of the Year award in the event's 25-year history. The World Airline Awards, known as 'the Oscars of the airline industry,' began in 1999 and continue to be fiercely independent and unbiased, with all customer survey costs and event expenses funded by Skytrax.
Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Group Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, expressed enormous pride and thanks for the honour, praising the airline's workforce for their everlasting dedication. He emphasised that this recognition demonstrates their dedication to providing exceptional service and innovation. Qatar Airways was named the World's Best Airline, as well as the World's Best Business Class, the World's Best Business Class Lounge, and the Best Airline in the Middle East.
Singapore Airlines, which won Airline of the Year in 2023, was placed second worldwide in 2024. The airline was also honoured for having the World's Best Cabin Crew and the World's Best First Class for its lavish suites. The World Airline Awards also recognised outstanding accomplishments in the low-cost airline industry. AirAsia maintained its position as the world's best low-cost airline, which it has held since 2010. Scoot was named the world's best low-cost long-haul airline. In Europe, Volotea was named Best Low-Cost Airline, followed by Transavia France and Vueling.
British Airways has been named the World's Most Family-Friendly Airline, a title that takes into account a variety of variables such as family seating policy, child-friendly onboard entertainment, and overall service quality for families.
