French fine dining restaurant Saint Pierre continues to thrive in the pandemic’s shadow, successfully retaining its two Michelin stars at the Michelin Guide Singapore 2021 virtual awards ceremony held on 1 September.
Helmed by chef-owner Emmanuel Stroobant, Saint Pierre earned its first star in the Michelin Guide Singapore 2017, retained it in the following year, and was awarded a second Michelin star in 2019.
Offering a distinctive take on contemporary French cuisine with Asian elements, Stroobant’s creations draw inspiration from the Zen Circle or Ensō, a hand-drawn symbol in Zen that represents enlightenment and the freeing of the mind to create unreservedly.
t is this very same free spiritedness that Stroobant channels in the kitchen, as he expresses his creativity and harmonious energy on a plate without restraint. This craftsman-led approach is underpinned by the balance in flavours, precision in techniques, and an unstinting commitment to the quality of ingredients.
“In the midst of these trying times for our industry, we are honoured to once again be awarded two Michelin stars. We take nothing for granted and this win further serves to motivate my team to strive and exceed our guests’ expectations every day,” says Chef Emmanuel.
While creativity and innovation are important ingredients for success in the F&B industry, Chef Stroobant adds that having a strong team and supportive clients are paramount to business sustainability.
“This recognition by Michelin Guide Singapore reaffirms the dedication and hard work that my team has put in to provide an exceptional dining experience for our guests, and for that I am very grateful. “Above all else, I want to thank our loyal customers, who have placed their trust in us, for their support all these years. Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today,” he adds.
