Plating Up WA: Singapore Edition is back for its second year with selected restaurants, cafés, and bars throughout Singapore set to serve specially created dishes and drinks using Western Australian produce during the dining festival from 23 June to 23 July.
Plating Up WA was launched in Western Australia in 2018 to celebrate WA produce in its home market. In 2022, Singapore was chosen as its first overseas campaign, with diners stepping out to enjoy the many WA-inspired dishes and drinks at participating venues during the month-long festival.
For the first time, the two locations will launch a chef exchange program which will see chefs from Perth and Singapore teaming up to learn and share knowledge about local produce and flavours before they host exclusive four-hands dinners in each city.
Four-hands dinners with guest chefs have become popular in the international dining scene, whereby world-renowned chefs collaborate to design exciting menus for food lovers to experience.
From Singapore, Lamley Chua, executive chef for 1-Arden that includes Oumi and Kaarla, has been named this year’s Chef Ambassador for the Plating Up WA: Singapore Edition.
Kaarla is known for its Coastal Australian cuisine that showcases the bounty and quality of Australian seafood and agriculture along its coastal regions, including WA’s own wagyu beef, akoyas, and native ingredients.
As Chef Ambassador, Chef Lamley will travel to Perth from 12 to 16 June to learn about Western Australian produce, visit farmers’ markets, and present his Plating Up WA: Singapore Edition dishes at a one-night-only Four-Hands Dinner with Chef Lucas Fernandes, executive chef for Fraser’s Kings Park in Perth and the partnering chef for the Plating Up WA campaign.
Chef Lucas will then visit Singapore from 16 to 20 July to showcase his creations alongside Chef Lamley at the Four-Hands Dinner in Kaarla. While in Singapore, he will visit Tekka and Tiong Bahru markets, meet local chefs, and sample WA-inspired dishes at several Plating Up WA: Singapore Edition venues.
The Plating Up WA: Singapore Edition will be held in food and beverage establishments throughout Singapore ranging from fine-dining restaurants to cafés and wine bars.
Some of the participating venues this year include Monti, Oumi, Open Farm Community, and LeVeL33. Other names will be announced at a later date.
Plating Up WA: Singapore Edition is delivered by the WA Government through Invest and Trade WA Singapore Office, and supported by Western Australia’s Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and its Buy West Eat Best program.
