A truly great pop-up that is noteworthy to pay attention to, is the partnership of Oxwell & Co with Straits Clan. With a stellar Executive Chef at its helm, they are only here to stay till the end of February.

Located on the infamous Bukit Pasoh Road, the ambience is so relaxing that I ran late for my next appointment….not a usual occurrence for me at all! I put it down to dining in a historic conservation building which has a charm that is second to none.

With an all-new menu and a weekend brunch on offer too, this heartwarming space churns out amazing roasts which saw overwhelming demand over the Christmas Season.

Oxwell & Clan however also serve a chicken curry which got my thumbs up. The glazed Oriental pork ribs were also a stunner. The very well-seasoned meat fell off the bone as was simply delicious.

As an Australian true to Vegemite, I turned my nose up at the home-made Marmite when I first set eyes on it. Sat on the board with sourdough bread, it was amazing!

Different to store-bought Marmite, obviously. Much tastier and packed in a little jar that said Marmite. I took it away for keepsake which is what Oxwell & Co expect of patrons. Very creative!

The baked beetroot salad is to die for - a must have when you visit. Dressed in a whipped goats cheese and pine nut dressing, it was light and citrusy to the taste.

Weekend brunches at Oxwell & Clan go for $78 per person with a quality line-up of seafood and meats that will satiate any appetite. From freshly shucked oysters and poached prawns to roast pork belly and chicken plus aged sirloin and delicious accompaniments on the side.

The Australian beef tartare I tried is also on the brunch menu. So flavorsome especially with the single smoked egg yolk sitting on top of it which when mixed with the tartare, was a great finisher!

Probably not everyone’s choice but certainly appealed to me. To end the meal Valhrona chocolate cake – dense, bitter and sounded out all my senses with a cup of coffee. Bliss that matched any Parisienne café!

I could imagine the vibe on a weekend in this pretty cool spot. With Bloody Mary pitchers going for $58++ and a 2-hour free of Rose and Champagne priced at $65 and $90 respectively, it would be a reason to take advantage of this pop-up soon.

Planning my next visit there already I know what I would like to try - the yellowfin tuna steak, charred Brussel sprouts with pancetta and maple butter and apple crumble to end.

Oxwell & Clan have got me! Fingers crossed that they extend their partnership beyond end February.

Impeccable service. Relaxed Vibe. Delectable Food.

A decadent lunch at Oxwell & Co’s Pop Up at Clan Club is a fantastic way to breathe excitement into your working week. With a relaxed yet classy vibe, this experience will have you licking your lips and keen for more.

Our first round of dishes arrived promptly and the starter lab sourdough with black garlic butter was an amazing way to dive into our lunch. Truth be told, I could have easily filled up on this and their house made marmite!

Thankfully the Baked Beetroot salad was placed on the table and I was able to enjoy this light and fresh dish. The pops of colour combined with the taste reminded me of home, which makes sense as the newly appointed Executive Chef, Reuben Davis was previously of The Press Club and Elektra in Melbourne.

When it came to the mains it was a tough choice as to which was the favourite dish. The Glazed Oriental Pork Ribs had a gorgeous zing and the meat just fell from the bone…melt in the mouth material! And the Oxwell & Clan Chicken Curry with the mango chutney had the right amount of spice to keep things interesting.

Although we had very little room for dessert, we still managed to polish off the divine Valhrona Flourless Chocolate Cake with salted caramel ice cream. The deep bitterness of the cake was paired perfectly with the saltiness of the ice cream and it was a fantastic way to end a pleasurable Oxwell & Co experience at Straits Clan’s, Clan Café.

I’m now even more keen to try out their weekend Brunch and Beats Experience!
