As The Clan Hotel Singapore by Far East Hospitality turns two this month, it is taking the opportunity to celebrate kinship and tradition while staying committed to offering authentic stay experiences with the newly launched The Clan Turns Two – Double The Celebration package.
Available for bookings from now to 24 May 2023, the package includes a Chinese calligraphy workshop, a four-course Double The Happiness Dinner Menu at QĪN Restaurant & Bar, exclusive anniversary gifts, and a two-night stay in a MASTER Series Premier Room or Grand Premier Room among other privileges.
Since its official opening in early 2021, the luxury hotel has been drawing travellers – both locally and from around the world – who seek unique and authentic Singapore-inspired experiences. The hotel’s efforts in curating culturally-immersive experiences have garnered it several accolades, including the Experience Excellence (Leisure) – Outstanding Hotel Experience award at the Singapore Tourism Awards 2022.
Drawing inspiration from the number two, the anniversary package has been thoughtfully put together to offer guests double the happiness and memories. Guests can look forward to two different appetisers and desserts when they dine at QĪN Restaurant & Bar and bring home delightful memories with two exclusive anniversary gifts conceptualised in collaboration with two local artisans.
As part of its anniversary celebration, the hotel has partnered with Cheng’s @ 27 – a family-run food establishment with a rich history spanning three generations – to offer an elevated welcome tea ceremony at the lobby. Upon arrival, guests can look forward to enjoying a slice of Pandan Gula Melaka Chiffon Cake alongside a cup of freshly brewed Nanyang Ritual tea.
Widely regarded as a gatekeeper of heritage, Cheng’s @ 27 strives to preserve tradition and the nostalgic taste of Hainanese bakes through their creations.
Fragrant, moist and fluffy, the chiffon cakes are made fresh daily with quality Nanyang ingredients including cold-pressed pandan juice, organic extra virgin coconut oil and premium gula melaka.
Be transported into another time and place at The Clan Hotel’s Chinese Calligraphy Workshop. Held at the hotel’s Level 30 Sky Lounge and led by Singapore-based Calligrapher Corinna Tai, the hotel aims to provide an immersive cultural experience within its grounds.
Corinna Tai is a firm believer that one does not need to be literate in the Chinese language to appreciate calligraphy. She has been practising this ancient art form since the age of 10 and hopes to share the beauty and cultural significance of Chinese calligraphy with her students.
Guests will be introduced to the fundamental skills of Chinese calligraphy such as basic strokes, proper sitting and standing posture, positioning and wrist movement while writing. During the one-hour session, guests will create their own art piece, forming the word “Joy” in traditional writing on white xuan paper and bring home their own unique piece of calligraphy in a wooden glass frame.
In conjunction with the hotel’s anniversary, Executive Chef James Tay of QĪN Restaurant & Bar, has put together an exquisite four-course menu featuring a unique twist. Aptly named "Double the Happiness", the menu offers guests an opportunity to enjoy two appetisers and duo desserts alongside a delectable main course, each executed with precision and finesse.
Highlights include the hearty and comforting Shrimp, comprising succulent shrimp ravioli served in a flavourful chicken consommé, and the Schnitzel, featuring Kurobuta pork loin fried to crisp perfection, served with Hainan-style sweet and sour sauce and homemade potato salad.
In addition to providing new and exciting experiences, The Clan Hotel Singapore has teamed up with two local artisans to create two exclusive gifts for guests to take home as a keepsake of their stay. Local artist Chen Xi, who is passionate about preserving stories of yesteryear, was commissioned to create a set of four hand-drawn postcards that showcase rare glimpses of features and design elements iconic to the hotel.
Another memorable gift that guests can take home is The Clan Biscotti, created in partnership with Cheng’s @ 27. Handmade from scratch in small quantities from family recipes handed down, this artisanal pandan gula melaka biscotti spotlights key Nanyang ingredients such as pandan leaves, coconut and gula melaka accompanied by the crunchiness of cashew nuts.
As part of the celebration, the hotel will be hosting Chinese calligrapher Corinna Tai for a pop-up event on 11 and 18 March. During this pop-up event, Corinna will be conducting live-writing on traditional paper fans as a complimentary personalised gift for guests. Guests may choose from a list of well wishes or approach her with their own preferred personalisation, while stocks last.
As part of this activation, guests can share a photo of them posing or using the paper fan on Instagram, with the hashtag #TheClanGoesPlaces and be rewarded with a token of appreciation such as The Clan Tonic or The Clan Soap, while stocks last.
The Clan Tonic is a modern interpretation of Cheng Tng, featuring a rum-infused cocktail perfectly tied together with a citrusy twist of lemon, while The Clan Soap features a lovingly handcrafted soap bar created to inspire mindfulness among busy city-dwellers. Simply show the Instagram post to hotel staff at the Reception to redeem the gift.
