FurKid Retreat - A Staycation For the Whole Family at Sofitel Sentosa

Your pet deserves a vacation too. So what if he can’t fly, you can now book a FurKid Retreat at Sofitel Sentosa and have a woof-ing good time.

Being a travel editor has its perks but one of the downsides is the heartbreak of leaving your pet at home every other week. We’ve often spoken about taking our Cavachon, Cookie, on trips with us but tiny as he is, he wouldn’t enjoy the journey.

Thus, when the chance to go on a FurKid Retreat in Singapore came up, I jumped at it. To make it even more special, I decided to take both my babies, my daughter and my puppy, as a special Mother’s Day treat. Off we went, bags packed and tail wagging, to Sofitel Sentosa after school one fine Friday evening.

As soon as we entered the lobby, I knew that this was a pet-friendly hotel. The staff all looked upon Cookie with love and no one blinked twice wherever he roamed on his leash. In fact, by the end of the holiday, he was firmly established as the star of the show, with guests cooing “Oh, so cute,” whenever they crossed him. The hotel itself is beautiful, giving resort vibes so close to the city. Its French design blended with Singapore's colonial heritage makes for stunning photo opportunities. We witnessed a couple getting a wedding photography session done in the gorgeous corridors as we walked to our room in the Peace Wing.

As we entered our Junior Suite, my daughter leapt up in joy. It was elegant and vast, beautifully done up with a separate living room and a private bedroom with plenty of storage. The bathroom was splendid, with a bathtub for long soaks and an eye for detail reflected in the mosaic tiles in the shower area. The first thing that caught our eye though, was an overflowing gift basket with goodies for my pet. He went crazy over the kibbles, the treats, and even a little plush toy just for him. The basket of goodies is included in every FurKid Retreat and truly makes both the pet and the pet parent feel special.

Cookie even got his own bed to sleep on, as comfortable as ours, and a cow-printed water bowl to slurp from. After settling in, we headed straight for dinner at Kwee Zeen and were comfortably seated in the alfresco area where pets are allowed. Kwee Zeen offers both a la carte and a buffet and we decided to go for the latter to sample a variety of cuisines. From sushi to rendang and even butter chicken, there was plenty to keep me and my daughter happy. Cookie, unfortunately, missed out, being on a kibble-only diet, but the hotel offers a wonderful two-course gourmet meal for pets for those who want to indulge their fur babies.

Full tummies and the excitement wore everyone down and we settled into our plush beds for a night of deep slumber. Come morning, we were fresh as ever and we hit the breakfast buffet at Kwee Zeen with gusto. The live egg counter is usually my favourite one, though I did get enticed by the options galore. From freshly made waffles (and a zillion toppings) to salads, cold cuts, soup and even an Indian section, there were so many things to choose from. We took our time and worked our way through a very relaxed breakfast. After all, that’s what staycations are all about, aren’t they?

Talking about which, we had one last box to check. The pool! We got our swimsuits on, left Cookie in the room this time and headed straight to the pool for some water fun. My daughter is quite the water nymph and quickly made friends as there were so many sociable guests around. I, however, was quite content sipping on a beverage on the daybed, curled up with a book. This was the perfect way to wrap up an exciting staycation with both of my babies. No longer do I feel guilty about leaving my pup home when I travel. After all, I can just book a FurKid retreat at Sofitel Sentosa and give him a treat too! It’s a win-win.

The FurKid Retreat at Sofitel Sentosa starts from $578++ per night with 1 FurKid, and includes a one-night stay, breakfast and dinner for two adults in Kwee Zeen, a pet amenity basket from Silversky and a pet bed and bowl. FurKids are welcome to dine with their Pawrents in the alfresco area in Kwee Zeen, and at all the outdoor areas.
