From tiny steps to giant leaps…
Here at the Australian International School we are incredibly proud of the achievements of all our students, but what really makes us smile is when we see a student grow and develop from the early years of our school right through to graduation. Whether it’s teaching them to read and write, seeing them win their first match on the sports field, watching them develop a musical talent, or preparing them for University and beyond, we support our students on every step of their learning journey.
Great achievements start with small steps
For many of our students the journey begins in our Early Years Centre – this is where the basics of learning begin, where lifelong friendships are created and where children start to discover and understand the world around them. Our brand new Early Learning Village has been expertly designed to provide the ideal setting for these key moments to happen. Inspired by the principles of Reggio-Emilia philosophy, the Early Learning Village features a series of expertly designed indoor and outdoor spaces which encourage collaboration and exploration.
Classrooms are clustered together in small groups, creating communities within the larger school community. Named after Australian animals, each classroom cluster creates a home-from-home environment that is light and airy, taking cues from the natural environment. This is the perfect place for children to meet new friends and discover new things, providing a solid platform for success in their future school years.
Transitioning to Elementary School and beyond
The next step of the journey for our young learners is the transition into ‘big school’, and children who have been through our Early Years program are already one step ahead of the game. Having laid strong foundations in Early Years, children progress to Prep, which will also be housed at the new Early Learning Village from July. This allows our youngest Elementary students to begin their first formal years of schooling in a familiar, purpose-built environment alongside their friends.
After Prep, our students are ready to continue their journey in the Elementary School, where they will make new friends and continue to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world, whilst still maintaining strong connections with the friends they played and learned with in Early Years. Our Elementary programs of study are designed to equip students for the world of Secondary School, where they can choose from one of our varied matriculation pathways as well as a vast selection of sporting, musical and co-curricular opportunities.
Developing well-rounded young men and women
No matter how long a student has been with us – whether they have joined us in Early Years, Elementary or Secondary, our goal is for each and every one of our students to progress into the adult world as reflective, caring, knowledgeable and principled young men and women. The things they have learned, the friends they have made and the interests they have discovered will go on to shape their future success in University, the workplace, or wherever life may take them.
