Art Now

September F1 season and Singapore Design week exhibition at ARTNOW. Future Perfect. In an increasingly mechanized world where furniture are mass produced for mass consumption, the artistry of handmade, one-off pieces are a dying trade.

It is because of such fear for the loss of innovation and individuality, Art Now has partnered with Lotus Arts de Vivre and Muse, both based in Thailand, to address the possibilities and beauty of future design solutions using only environmentally-conscious materials with a keen eye towards art making.

This also brings forth the possibilities where the East and West can work together, with Lotus Arts de Vivre being spearheaded by German-born Helen von Bueren, who has incessantly worked with natural mediums like bamboo, as a way of calling to preserve Asia’s cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship through a forward-thinking international lens for creative design solutions in Asia.

Almost every piece showcased is also one-off, not only highlighting the skills of lost regional artisans to produce objects and furniture using noble materials, but also worked through a contemporary design approach, to address the technological possibilities on how furniture making can look in the near future through a more artistic and sustainable framework.
