Dover Street Market is a multi-brand retailer originally located on Dover Street, in Mayfair, London. It has stores in New York City, Tokyo, Beijing, and Los Angeles. Dover Street Market was created by Rei Kawakubo of the Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons and her husband Adrian Joffe. The concept behind it was to construct a new kind of shop that would celebrate creativity, decry conformity and ignore established principles of retail. A place where streetwear would collide with luxury, young designers would line up with world-famous icons, artists would interfere in the installations, designers would be free to make their own spaces. Aiming to create beautiful chaos.

Originally located on Dover Street in Mayfair — Dover Street Market is now a widely reputed multi-brand retailer, with 7 international stores in London, New York, Tokyo, Beijing, Los Angeles, Paris, and Singapore. DSM was a dream brought to life by Rei Kawakubo (of Japanese fashion label Comme des Garçons) and her husband Adrian Joffe. Their vision was to construct a new store which celebrates creativity and originality, while abandoning conformity and established principles of retail. The place was designed to be a melting point where; streetwear collides with luxury brands, emerging designers would line up alongside world famous icons, artists would interfere in the installations, and designers would be free to make their own spaces — aiming to create beautiful chaos.
The multi-label store in Singapore stockpiles over 25 designer brands ranging from Comme des Garçons and Anti Social Social Club to Céline and The Row. Housed in a restored army barracks with high ceilings, black cage-like grills as racks and a colourful ‘cashier’ hut — this contemporary shopping space is often mistaken for an art gallery, but works well for a great fix of retail therapy!
