White Shades Bar recently unveiled its freshly remodelled Level 1 space, encouraging cocktail fans to enjoy an urban paradise centred on highballs. Previously a confectionary parlour offering ice cream and tea drinks, this renovated space now houses an altogether new bar concept. White Shades, known for its inventive cocktail menu, has taken this reinvention a step further by introducing a one-of-a-kind bar-hopping experience that takes customers on a journey across three distinct levels, each with its own ambiance and drink selection.
White Shades, located on Boon Tat Street in Singapore's Central Business District, is led by Bai JiaWei, a rising star who was named one of Prestige's 2024 "40 Under 40." Level 1 has undergone an impressive change, transitioning from its pastel origins to a Japanese-inspired speakeasy vibe. Guests are greeted by neon signage, illuminated backdrops, and lively music, which set the tone for an immersive encounter. The sleek decor makes for an ideal backdrop for a night of exploration, and the beautifully made highballs and izakaya-style small meals complete the experience.
The new bar room is largely influenced by Japanese mixology, featuring a variety of highball cocktails, including the iconic Kaku Highballs. These highballs, available in Yuzu, Umeshu, Genmaicha, and Shiso flavours, are refined and refreshing, making them ideal for any occasion. The "Kaku High" cocktail pairs well with a meal, providing a light but flavourful alternative for highball fans.
White Shades also introduces its distinctive highballs, which combine a variety of ingredients to create delectable beverages. Highlights include the PawPaw Plum, which combines sour plum, soursop, and gin to create a colourful and delicious beverage. Spear The Melon is a refreshing combination of rum, spearmint, and watermelon, while Mango Agogo is a sour spin on vodka, mango yoghurt, and grapefruit. Each drink mixes robust flavours with a hint of elegance, resulting in a symphony of flavours for customers to enjoy.
To complement the highballs, White Shades has overhauled its food menu, presenting small meals that precisely match the cocktail profiles. Guests can enjoy tasty izakaya appetisers, which enhance the overall dining experience.
The excitement does not stop there. White Shades has launched an exclusive bar-hopping experience dubbed Hop through the Shades. This immersive trip leads guests through the bar's three floors, each with its own distinct ambiance, culminating in a secret, invitation-only location where diners can taste a bespoke cocktail created by JiaWei himself. This remarkable experience requires advanced reservations, ensuring a wonderful night for all participants.
