Expat Choice is pleased to announce well-loved local artisanal bakery and café Baker & Cook's has a Plant-Based Menu, available exclusively at its Dempsey outlet.
The array of dishes highlighted in Baker & Cook's compact menu includes the scrumptious Pizza 10 with ‘meatless’ meatballs and Spanish onions, The Impossible™ Mushroom Swiss with vegan cheese and assorted mushrooms, and Baked Heirloom Baby Beetroot served with pomegranate molasses. A carefully-curated list of vegan wines is also included to complement these creations.
Our favorites include Baked Baby Heirloom Beetroot ($15) Seasoned with thyme, garlic, sea salt and pepper, the baby golden and red heirloom beetroots are roasted at high heat to render this appetizing starter. Topped with shallot rings, seeded rye crisps as well as caramelised walnut pieces, this amazingly flavourful dish dressed with olive oil and pomegranate molasses is perfect to whet one’s appetite before diving into the main courses.
The Charred Cauliflower Steak ($20) Light and refreshing, the ‘steak’ is pan-seared then roasted in the oven. Topped with rocket and shallot rings, its texture is further elevated with roasted almond flakes; a drizzle of almond, caper and raisin salsa is also included to further enhance the flavour of this dish!
Last but not least, the Thai Green Curry Pot Pie ($19) A spice lover’s choice, the Thai Green Curry Pot Pie features pumpkin, eggplant and snow peas cooked in a fragrant coconut gravy that is rich and punchy, and covered with a sunflower seed-studded vegan pastry skin. Tame the heat with pineapple and herb salsa atop the pastry.
The menu is available for dine-in and take-away from Monday to Thursday, 12pm to 3pm and 6pm to 10pm, as well as between 12pm and 10pm from Friday to Sunday. Please check Facebook page or websites regularly for updates and items added to the menu from time to time.
