Rum Bellion, Singapore’s first and largest rum festival, is back with fine rums and street revelry. After 2 years hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions, the main Festival and finale will take place on 5th June 2022, Sunday along Keong Saik Road outside Heart of Darkness and within the Restaurant.
Originally brewed in Saigon, Vietnam, and now right here in Singapore, Heart of Darkness is the first brewery and restaurant outside Vietnam. Serving food interpretations of east meets west, the venue also boasts 25 different craft beers on tap, along with cocktails from the finest craft spirits. Besides the core range and taps, Heart of Darkness also brings in and serves a wide selection of limited releases.
The much-anticipated street Festival will feature the following highlights:
Highlight 1: Launch of Limited-edition Plantation Single Cask 2021 Jamaica 1998
Highlight of the event is the launch of the 22-year-old limited-edition Plantation Single Cask 2021 Jamaica 1998.
Singapore is the first to launch in Asia Pacific. The rum is distilled at Long Pond Distillery in 1998, then aged 20 years in Bourbon casks. It is then matured for another 2 years in Ferrand casks, and finally finished 10 months in Bardstown Fusion Series Bourbon casks. There are only 126 bottles for the Asia Pacific market.
Highlight 2: Over 30 brands and 60 different expressions of rum
The biggest and newest rum brands will be pitting for the attention of the discerning and adventurous rum lovers.
Highlight 3: Finest cocktails by the Best Bars
Bartenders from Asia’s 50 Best such as Jay Gray from Sago House and Joseph Haywood from Low Tide will be shaking up the finest cocktails for brands like Chalong Bay, Doorly’s, Equiano, Foursquare, Phraya, Renegade and Samai.
Other noteworthy participating local bars include Lime House Caribbean, Origin, Sugarhall, and The Bar at 15 Stamford. Visiting bars such as A/A Bar (Jakarta, Indonesia), Buccaneers Rum & Kitchen (Manila, the Philippines), Dirty Dick (Paris, France), House of Sathorn (Bangkok, Thailand), Jungle Bird (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), and Teens of Thailand (Bangkok, Thailand) will also be at the event. This is Dirty Dick’s first visit to Singapore.
Highlight 4: Special edition Heart of Darkness beer inspired by rum cocktails
At this Festival, Heart of Darkness will be rolling out special beers inspired by popular rum cocktails like daiquiri, pina colada and mojito.
Fringe and other activities
The Festival will also have entertainment by a live DJ, tattoo artist, and face painters. Fringe festivities will take place on the 3rd and 4th of June, leading up to the main event on the 5th of June 2022.
